So here's a new issue to an old mod. Several years ago I retrofitted my headlights from stock to projectors with all the bells and whistles. It took a few adjustments and I finally got it done to my liking. Fast forward to this week. While driving home from work (after dark), I noticed my headlights flash just for a split second. When it did it I thought I saw my high beam indicator in the instrument cluster also illuminate but it happened so fast I couldn't be sure. Then last night it happened again. When I got home, parked in the driveway facing my closed garage door, I sat and watched. It did it again. When it happens my highbeam indicator slowly fades in then flicks back off when the flash in the headlights happens. I haven't changed anything since doing the retrofit so I am a bit confused on what or how I should address this issue. Would it be a highbeam controller issue? Perhaps a short somewhere? The controller is a morimoto and when I turn on my highbeams it works correctly. It has been especially wet and rainy lately, for so cal anyway but otherwise no noticeable change in anything. Besides, I take my taco everywhere from desert to snow covered mountains. I did do the fog light anytime mod but removed it probably a year or two ago with no issue. Hopefully someone on here can point me in the right direction.

    Hmm . . . none as yet, that's why i'm here . . .
Maybe u should reach out to morimoto. I would suspect issue with moisture getting in somewhere

Hood Struts, My version Fogs always ON, Map & Overhead Light Mod,
For the HIGH BEAMs to turn ON, they need the relay to swap (it's a 5 pin type) output. This is done via Body ECU getting the signal from the light switch.
You either have a bad relay or a failing ECU.

Thanks for the responses guys, I got it pinned down to something pretty stupid. When I ran the harness for the morimoto controller I missed a sharp edge along the inside of the body panel and the wires got the insulation damaged over time. I started going over all the components starting at where it connects to the factory wiring. Found it and repaired the abrasion and it stopped doing it. Im assuming that either they were shorting for a second to ground or to each other. Im not sure but it was the only flaw I found and they've been great since.
