Sorry I’ve been gone for a minute. We moved to Colorado in the beginning of May and have been settling into our new home. The 4runner was absolutely meant to be here!!! Couple updates.....

Blew a head gasket right before we moved so I towed the 4runner up here with the Penske.

Rebuilt the top end of the engine using LC engineerings Kit.
Got a 1st gen Tacoma trail gear front bumper and winch
Started on a rear bumper with inspiration from @Box Rocket

Hitch flush (ish) mounted through the bumper today.

What are doing for a latch this time?

 

Using a 90* latch that will pull towards the bumper.

 

Been gone a while and a bunch of stuff has happened so I’ll give you the skinny.

4runner in its final form. It was fantastic… then we found out we were having baby #3. Sold it to a friend of a friend down in Texas summer of 2020 and he’s stoked which is cool.






I work for a van builder in Colorado so I figured with the kiddos I’d give that a try. Bought a 2019 Ford Transit medium roof empty cargo van and built it up over the last year and a half.

Current status




We enjoyed it all summer and camped in it countless nights. It’s been my daily driver and has honestly been great…. But it’s not a Toyota. Also the market for these things has gone absolutely bananas so I actually will come out ahead on a vehicle for a change. So it will be for sale pretty soon.

So… now I need a new vehicle.

I’ve already purchased said vehicle but am curious to see if you guys can guess where my screw loose mind went.

Engine well maintained
2 teenagers have had it for the past 5 years so the suspension is clapped, tires are trash, and the interior is pretty filthy. Everything works but it needs a solid weekend of scrubbing
Body is pretty good
Color is old man tan

 

The screw in the tire is for winter road conditions.

Haha yea it’s been quite a while. Kids will do that.

Plan is pretty mild ….

-Low lift (I’m a fan of low slung trucks these days)
-285/75r16
-Sherpa rack (they are here in my home town and are homies)
- sliders
- some simple organization in the back

That prob it honestly. Boring as it may be it’s all I really need. Build more over time perhaps but we shall see. It’s a daily kid hauler.

Running boards gone. Factory rack gone. Tires and wheels. Little bit of maintenance and trimming. Time to hit the mountains bike stock to see what it can do. I’m pleased to say this thing handles awesome. Heated seats and plenty of cup holders for hot chocolate. Sliders and Sherpa rack coming up soon.
