I haven't modified the engine in mine at all. I have a friend that has a friend (LOL) that can custom grind camshafts for any engine. They bought Crower Cams old camshaft grinders, 3 of the machines, and the guys that used to run those machines for Crower Cams now do it in their spare time. It's a whole can of worms so to speak as you're going to have to change a lot to get it tuned correctly after the camshaft change.

Sorry.....seems a bit odd to expect race performance from the engine.......

I s'pose you could do it. Although, I'd suggest thorough research. I mean, it will be more involved than just dropping a cam in the engine. I foresee a great expense, much frustration and time resulting in a FUBAR truck.

Anything can be and is raced and it's only limited by one's imagination. I've read here on TW that some people get some pretty good hp numbers out of the 4.0L and I'd expect they've changed the camshaft, hopefully they'll chime in, but I'm positive it's a can of worms with a lot of disappointment before achieving their goals. There's a thread on TW about remapping the ECU with a ton of information in it (that I don't understand lmao).

Don't forget these aren't old school overhead valve engines, we've got 4 cams. Seems like it would get rather pricey for the gains.
