Yesterday blower motor resistor went out. Didn't notice it for awhile as the weather is nice in S.Texas. Changed it that evening and ac is blowing again. BUT now it will not blow cold. Checked clutch relay and ac fuse under the hood, they are is fine.
Looks like the ac clutch spins when I turn the ac on but you dont hear the click and rev. You just hear the hiss in the cab when the ac I turns on.

Does the blower motor resistor have any thing to do with this or is this another problem. Also any suggestions?

Resistor has nothing to do with the A/C cooling, based on you saying you hear a hissing in the cab with the A/C on it sounds like it's low on refrigerant.
I would suggest taking it to a shop and having it checked, most likely you have a leak in the system somewhere.

I was afraid of that. I hate taking my truck to the mechanic.

Have them pressure test the system. When my AC went, it was the condenser. $120CAD for a Denso one on Amazon, took an hour to replace, had it filled and no problems since.

I was going to change the compressor of my old Jeep liberty (pre Tacoma years) and yes it was defiantly cheaper, but it was a lot of work. I couldnt find good directions onhow to prep the condenser with oil too.
To get a place to discharge and evap the system would be a nightmare right now. Just to get my truck looked at isnt going to happen till next week. Seems all the mechanics are have too much work as it is.
BUT all that being said, I might look in to that if thats the problem. I injected dye in the system and can find a leak. gonna add some R134a and see what that does.

Just be careful with those gauge cans, without manifold gauges to see pressures on both sides of the system you can potentially overcharge it and cause damage.

I was not too confident that I could change my condenser. It’s actually pretty easy. Pull the upper grill, inlet and outlet hoses, 4 bolts holding it to the rad, lift out and up. I even decided to paint the new one black, so it wasn’t seen through the grill. Then booked time at a shop to have it refilled. Saved me 2 hours labor charge.

Yeah, I was worried about that too. I hooked up the the refill and it said less than 5 PSI in the line, but Im not sure whats going on. I guess Ill just wait till next week, Its getting cold tomorrow and I wont need the AC for a couple months. I just cant stand to have something broken and drive around. Eats at me. HAHAHA
