I wouldn't, I think Toyota still has the most reliable midsize truck even if it doesn't have all the bells and whistles that Ford and GM have.
I had to change oil on a 21 Ranger the other day and the filter is a royal pain to get at even on a lift, not sure about the Maverick as I haven't seen one yet.

I'd sell my truck and buy a 3rd Gen; I want the features like automatic braking and blind spot warning...

Keep the Taco and wait to see how Mavericks shake out, as suggested above. I have been driving for 50 years, and I'm just going to say that all those safety features are great and all, but I reckon people start to rely on them instead of just, you know, staying awake and looking around. Every automation is an amputation. Nice to see Ford making a small affordable truck though. In my misspent youth I went through a couple of Rangers...

I spent the 70's and early 80's in VW Beetles. Many coast to coast road trips and very fond memories. In '85 bought my father's Ranger, bought a new 4WD one in '93. By the time I was in a Ranger, I was over the worst of it :)

Here she is; 2010 purchased new by my dad in September 2009, and title transferred to me in December 2016 (been paid off since late 2012 or early 2013, and I've got a clear title in hand; One of the proudest moments in my life was when the new title with my name on it came in the mail)...

143K miles but it runs like you'd expect a 2.7L to run; Brand new frame, rear suspension, brake lines, fuel lines, and lower control arms, so it drives basically like a brand new truck...

Ice cold A/C, brand new alternator, brand new battery, brand new spark plugs all in the last couple months; Almost $1,000 in the stereo system, which includes a backup camera!

Also has a 2" ProComp add-a-leaf kit, a Westin Bullbar, and a trailer hitch!

And as stated above, brand spanking new frame courtesy of Toyota!

Just the mere thought of parting with this truck for any reason causes a significant tightness in my chest and makes me want to cry...

Yeah, I probably am; The two of us have been through too much together...

This truck has gotten me through college, four jobs, and three girlfriends; It even survived getting hit by a drunk driver back in 2015!

Straight off of Ford's website. If this sounds like you then go for it.

You need to decide if your priority is a house or new truck. If it's a house you want to hold off on a new vehicle. If a truck I'd recommend getting a SR four banger which even in this market can be had for a reasonable amount of $$$. IMHO a far better option than any Ford product. Don't know if it has intermittent wipers although my SX 3.5 does. I know that's a feature along with AC you would require.

It may be a generational thing, but intermittent wipers are nice to have but a lot of my old clunkers years ago didn't have them so I don't consider them to be an earth shattering innovation. And I never use AC myself because when the heat is stifling my body gets used to the cold & when I depart from my vehicle to face the music the heat kicks my ass that much more. The last time I used AC was nearly 30 years ago, in PA as a matter of fact. Was driving from NYC to a wedding in Williamsport & it was 95° and pouring rain the entire way. Still only used them at the command of 2 female passengers. I should have forced them out of the car at the bus terminal.:rofl:

She's considering a new Subaru or a Toyota of some sort; A new Subaru, I'm fine with, because if the engine blows it's under warranty!
