I keep running into articles like this one. So, all the fancy-sch'mancy trucks, also cost A lot more than the Tacoma's.

My guys 2017 Chevy Duramax, very, very, very basic inside (makes my Tacoma look super high-tech) paying $65K. It's a diesel, with crazy pulling power, but I feel like they are comparing oranges to apples.

I looked at some of the other mid-sized trucks prior to buying this, and they are a lot more than my $40k truck. I love driving my Tacoma, and especially love taking it off-road, which a lot of other trucks couldn't do easily.

Sorry if this topic has been talked about!

I’ve owned Chevy’s and Fords. Years ago they lost me as a customer. No reason to go back.

It's all about who is paying to have those articles wrote.

Anyone that has owned a Tacoma knows they're great. I think Toyotas focus is more for the off road camping types than your basic farmers work horse.

Many articles would make you think everyone hates Tacomas while buying them in record numbers.

Becca, go drive your truck and quit looking for articles to validate your purchase. You have a great vehicle. Enjoy it!

Do you really care what some 3rd rate struggling writer says about your truck? I mean for fucks’ sake, he actually called the off-road suspension stiff!

Same. It's just typical negative news, because positive news doesn't sell as good. I can knock something about every brand and say something good about every brand. It is what it is. All I know, it's not as bad a fiat's or renaults, so at least we have that going for us.

Yep, lots of people like to point out that the Tacoma is not the best truck on this or that specific variable then point to a substantially different and more expensive truck that does that variable better. What they don't say is that a heaping portion of the market doesn't care about having the very best performance on this or that variable. Lots of people want a really good balance of the variables they care most about, which apparently describes the Tacoma for a massive number of folks.

People who watch too much 'news' tend to live in fear, especially the last couple of years, because most news isn't just factual reporting, it's heavily opinionated reporting with little context.

Continuing in that style, 'influencers', paid ads to look like testimonials or reviews, Tubers/'gramers/tockers/tweeters looking for hits (because they can't seem to hold productive jobs and they bombed as gamers) fill in the gaps.

They don't have to actually know anything, just sound like they do to the average reader of those mediums.

To each his own! They always talk about a vehicle needing updated, the reason I got mine was because they have been out a few years and most of the initial problems have been found out and resolved, happens on all vehicles when they make a change! Anyway, we all test drove our trucks and before buying, said to ourself, yep rides like a truck that's why I want it!

What most reviewers like little normie don't understand, and the reason why reviews are normally irrelevant to living with a vehicle, is because none of them are long term reviews. You have a car you review for a week at best. That's not really a review, it's a driving impression, but most mental midgets fail to realize that. The only real reviews are the ones where the person or staff have been living with the car for a year. One of the car mags use to do that. Can't remember which, but they would get to keep a car for a long period of time and get a true living impression of it.

The reality is what you read as a review is not a review, it is an impression for a few days of a vehicle. BFD

Most of my working life, I have had fleet vehicles for work. Me and my groups in many states have lived with many different types of vehicles, and I can tell you, it is amazing how things start popping up after a year. Our engineering company based pretty much many parts of the world has vehicles of all types. I can tell you that every single engineer I knew in our company wished for japanese cars, lol. In the US, they tried keeping it to american vehicles, in aurope, german vehicles and everywhere else, Toyota and Nissan. Including africa. I thought I had it bad with my shitty chevys, until the european guys talked about how unreliable their brands were.

A better stat may be length of ownership in years. I'll bet after five years Tacomas have one of the lowest % number of original owner sales. Plus, many owners here have 2-3 Tacomas, a proverbial fleet.

Oh yea, right now it's insane. I cashed in a Subaru Crosstrek and banked almost 6k

I can tell you in the short time I've owned it, I'd take a Toyota over a Subaru anyday. Honestly their AWD is pretty much all they got... not bashing, just preference.

The tacoma right now, I guarantee I could trade in and get a pro for the same monthly payment lol.

I’ve noticed the same frackin thing. Even while browsing YouTube I see comparison videos where I’m like ummmmm you are comparing the Tacoma to a xyz that’s a completely different truck made for a different audience/customer base. Maybe they just jelly we have a VERY capable rig right off the lot for 40k and they spend sometimes double and get stuck in the slightest bit of mud.
