Could be bullshit, but I was told by the service advisor that the parts package alone would be over $500 and that it would be at least two full days of lead technician time because they have to pull the engine out or dismantle the whole front end to do the repair properly. I am assuming they replace a bunch of other parts along they way to getting in and out from resealing it. I also thought I read elsewhere that there is not a gasket, just sealant, which is why it is prone to leaking probably.

That is great that it paid for itself for you but for most Toyota owners it would never gets used. The cost of the extended warranty plus the $100 you had to pay, how much did you really save on that warrenty service? Extended warranties are pure profit and that's why they offer them. Its a huge money maker for the dealerships especially on a make of vehicle with a stellar dependability record such as Toyota. One of the leading reasons we choose Toyota. Having owned strictly Toyota since 1989 I think of all the money I have saved not buying or needing the extended warranty. Maybe I'm just lucky I guess.

I think I paid around $850-900...Something like that. It was not over $1000. And if it had been a 2017 or beyond, I wouldn’t have bought it. I only got it because it was an early 2016 with a brand new engine line Toyota had never put in a truck before and I didn’t want to get left holding the bag for a new issue that showed up at 70k. Looks like it was a good deal for me in this case, but I would agree with you that most Toyota buyers don’t need it and probably won’t get their money’s worth out of it.

Should be both a gasket and sealant. Don't quote me, usually is. Well, what's done is done and I hope it works out for you. For some they say it's "peace of mind". I guess we'll take what we can get these days ;)
Hopefully your truck is g2g after the work. Probably something minor and they should not have to replace anything along the way IF it's just the seal.

Oh yea, the dealership then. You can try calling them but I personally would rather go in person and be done in 20 minutes. They will want you to sign something most likely anyways, and tons of stories about dealers giving people the run around unless they show up in person. I got put on endless hold after being passed around literally 4 times because "it was someone else's job" on a previous vehicle. Called back and left my email with them, they had everything else and already had my email so I knew it wasn't going to work and they were playing stealership games.

    Live and learn...

I got mine both cancelled with a letter. Read their terms and conditions and it said on page 3 paragraph 3 you cancel in person at the selling dealership, or request in writing. I sent certified mail to them and in 2 weeks they credited my loan. After being told I couldn’t buy the truck unless I purchased the coverages I wasn’t about to try and deal with that sleezeball dealership
