2021 TRD Off-Road. Only 5k miles. Very few mods. I drive the piss out of it, though. No issues. It's my first Tacoma and I see why people like them so much. It definitely isn't the best option for the money right now, but they have character and capability with a little bit of dough.

In hindsight, I might not have bought mine if I’d read TW first about all the potential catastrophes that await 3g owners. Any “problems” I’ve had really don’t qualify because they were all covered under TSB. So far, so good. 3 years and 30k miles in.

The only problems I seem to have with either one of my Tacomas are the dealers servicing them. The dealers have been the only cause of the issues I have ever had. (I am on my second Tacoma- had 2017 with 94k miles- ran like it was new when I sold it- my 2021 only has 12k miles - no problems)
In my experience, the dealers cannot be trusted with even the smallest service issue.
Will be posting a new topic to cover a major issue with a dealer that happened recently….

I avoid dealers like plague. Would use them for warranty work only.

If you’d been on here in the first 3-4 years of the the 2nd gen, you would not have bought one of those either.

TW consensus circa 2005-2010 was that the 2nd Gens were failure-prone garbage compared to 1st Gen.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

No problems. Of course, optional items (or the lack thereof) improve or diminish the opinion of the truck but ingoring that variability... I love my truck and the 4 friends of mine that also have theirs love theirs too. Only issue some of them have is they want a bigger truck for their grow

Almost 50k on my 18 pro. Best truck I’ve ever owned. Zero complaints and don’t miss my 2nd gen at all.

Took delivery last week, so far love it, no problems at all. Already did the tailgate OEM mod, TRD OEM skid plate, and Hikari LED lights (totally worth it and on sale on Amazon for the H11s). Only issue I got is I love driving it :D and I don't have to jeep wave a single person (force of habit) and feel guilty about not waving back HAHA.
Oh and I'm only getting 17 mpg driving like a grandpa but it's winter and I live at 4500 ft.

My 2018 had zero mechanical issues. I’m at 40k miles. Had the fuel pump recall done and the front TSS sensor recall. Had no issues with both by the way.

My truck drives better than it did new. I look for every excuse to go drive it.

This is similar to an expression I use sometimes. “Never fall in love with a woman or a vehicle. They’ll only break your heart.”

I've owned Toyota trucks since 1981. 3 before Toyota blessed it with the new name Tacoma. 3 since with the Tacoma badge. Were they all flawless, no. Were they really close, yes. Would I do it all over again,,, you bet! Enjoy your new truck!

I am 2yr into owning my 2013 TRDOR/AC/MT and I love it - no real issues, just some basic maintenance that was far easier than my cars - -

When I took a potential Tacoma to a mechanic for a pre/purchase inspection [hint: this one failed for being a RUST BUCKET as soon as it was on the lift.. ] the mechanics asked me if I was looking at any other truck models - I said 'Nope' and they were like 'smart' cause Toyota's have the least amount of B.S. compared to other truck mfrs. .

I tend to trust people who have no reason/no incentive to lie to me and who work on these things day/in/day/out -

I’ve had my 2020 since October 2019. Everything has run smoothly so far. 2001 Tacoma I had was virtually problem free for 250,000/17+ years. Buying a late model vehicle (especially a Tacoma) is normally a pretty safe bet. They have usually worked out all the kinks after several years. Take a quick browse on Jeep and Ford forums and the list of potential problems will be twice as long. Have fun with your new truck!

I've had no problems other than my driver side door randomly opening while driving. Dealership could not replicate the issue and its been noted incase it happens again lol. I've looked around and nobody has had this issue either.

I figured I'd post this. the door opens at 0:01 after going over a small bump on i-40 in Statesville, NC
