My new 2021 Tacoma 4WD DBL Cab came with what should be (somewhat) usable bed storage compartments. Problem is that they are not water tight when closed. I intend to have a folding tonneau cover for the bed in the future, but wonder if anyone had any temporary fix for the time being to keep water out of the boxes.

Both storage boxes come with a drain plug and funny thing is that the compartment lids have a rubber gasket around the edge except at the lower hinge edge. Anyone try to put stick on weather stripping on the lower edge or anything else to keep the water out of the storage boxes? I understand once the tonneau cover will eventually take care of the problem, but was just curious if anyone had a temporary solution until the tonneau cover is purchased?

Any (useful) recommendations would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Just get some simple sealer from a hardware store. Stuff you would use around the house.

Tonneau covers are not water tight either.
