Stuck e brake is my guess too .
I no longer use the e brake in the winter .
At 50 below zero , I have had issues in the past getting the rear brake shoes to release after driving in wet snow the day before .
Come spring , I take the e brakes apart and lube them up for the summer

Ya know it maybe because I all ways set my parking brake. I live in Maine it's wet and cold used it on all 4 of my Toyota trucks. What I have found use it or loose can't tell you how many times I have seen unused parking brakes seize up after being used for the first time in years.

Remote start on the MT needs the E-brake engaged so no getting around it for some of us if we want to use the remote.
