Hey guys, anyone know if swapping a high clearance rear bumper is a possibility? I have a cbi with dual swing outs. I’m getting into mountain biking so would like a high clearance without swing outs to use the tailgate to hold the bikes. I didn’t install the bumper so not sure how difficult it would be to swap for another high clearance.
    Thanks for any advice

Can't you just remove the swingouts?

You could probably get them cut off and a patch plate welded on. Might look a bit funny but it'll be a fair bit cheaper than swapping the bumper I'd imagine.

From what I can see on their website. Remove the bracket that hold the locking pin, remove a roll pin from the pivot cap and lift the arms off. You would be leaving the pivot shaft in place. Or if you know you won't go back it is nothing a sawzall couldn't take of.

Another bumper without the swingouts from CBI would be a perfect replacement, one from another maker may or may not fit depending on how the bedsides are cut.
