And, you could just watch @ClassyTacos yputube channel. Just watching someone replace parts is helpful. This way youll have an idea.

check out KFlo Tacoma on YouTube, he has lots of useful videos. Some of the issues you may run into if you wheel hard are damaged CV’s, broken spindles, or driveshaft. I believe he has videos for those.

The best thing to do is have the following:

A metric tool set from 8mm to 21mm- sockets and wrenches

    spare belts

    spare fuses

brake fluid, gear oil for the differentials and transfer case, Radiator Coolant, coolant hoses, air filter, clamps.

First Aid kit, recovery straps, and come along.

Take a cooler full of beer, Chilton or Haynes repair manual, CV, inner and outer TRs and you should be good.

Make sure the truck is ready for beating whenever you go off-roading. If something breaks, no wrenching. Just give up for the day and call someone.

Understood, but experience is mosest importanter. I am an old guy now at 58. I raced motocross when I was a teen and by 16 my dad didn't need to even come to the pits. By then I had broken every part (and several bones) and knew exactly what to do and how to fix. Same with four wheeling and pretty much everything in life.

There is a reason that the youth have more energy and the elders have more wisdom. They sorta even everything out!

All good stuff here. I'll add to learn mechanical sympathy first. Lots of hard use of the skinny pedal (or fat pedal) will generally break stuff.
As I get older I look back and start connect the dots. My car in high school had a lot of failed brake calipers. I replaced a lot of rear calipers to the point where I could get one swapped out in less than an hour. I assumed it was the crappy re manufactured ones from the cheap parts store but they had a lifetime warranty so I kept swapping them every few months.
I also managed to perfect the art of a handbrake turn anytime the road was wet. I could pivot my car around, slam it in first, and keep all 100hp squealing the tires like I was a stunt driver. Not a good example for mechanical sympathy!
