@6 gearT444E I have a question about diodes as I've never used them. Are they only necessary on the + circuit? I want my reverse lights to trigger from the reverse circuit or from my SPOD with a strobe module inline and would use the diodes to isolate each circuit.

 

typically they are used on the positive side of the circuit as they have a ~0.6V forward bias, you will connect the anode to the positive source. You can think of it as a check valve for electronics, preventing backfeed to where you don't want current flow. Not to be confused that the electrons themselves flow from the negative terminal to the positive.

I have one more follow-up question about picking a diode. This one is advertised as a 45V diode but is it ok to only run 12v through it? Or is that a diode-specific thing? The lights only draw .9A each. In the reviews people say they use them on 12v systems but who knows if that's an ok thing to do.

That 45V rating is the reverse voltage rating, for a 12V application that will be more than sufficient. The benefit of the Schottky diode is it has a lower forward bias voltage drop meaning "more voltage" available to the downstream load. The most you would ever see for the reverse voltage would be maybe 15VDC max which is nowhere near the 45V rating for the breakdown voltage of the one you linked there.
