I've had "hi-fi" equipment since junior high...
Back then, it was LPs and 45s. Eventually moved to CDs when forced to. I was never a fan of buying pre-recorded cassettes. I'd record stuff for "on the go" onto cassettes, though - Type II tapes only.

Ironically, what is old is new again.

My Dual 1225 still purrs like a kitten. Ironically I'd had to replace the belts on my Cassette Deck, which is 20+ years YOUNGER than the turntable (which never needed servicing), but YT is your friend, there.

The drawback to a Hi-Fi system is that you need to plan to listen to it. It's not on the go-go-go like your phone / iPod / etc... The pandemic did help in that regards, as I have time to sit home and do nothing.

Biggest issue I will have going forward is replacement Styli for my Shure Carts... Will need to go aftermarket now...
