I want power. I need power for my little 4 banger it’s gutless. I have been thinking about LS swapping since I feel as if it would be worth it instead of upgrading my 200k 4 cylinder. I need help has anyone else done an engine swap and is it worth it.

 

swap in aV6.......

or anything from a lexus etc

better than an LS ...............

anything bigger than aV6 Ud have to swap out

trans + rear end

or tear it all to crap 1st time U drop the hammer

 

is it a 4x4 or 5lug? They have sc or turbos if you wana go that route

 

I was thinking about adding a 6 speed trans anyways and get a whole new drivetrain and everything. It is the truck i’m gonna keep forever. Also it is a 5 lug 2x4. Can’t really do any off-roading in it. Also I don’t know if i wanna drop 5k for a supercharger on a 200 thousand mile engine lol

 

i would just buy a new vehicle. I dont see the point in putting a v8 in a 5lug, yeah its fast but ok

thanks everyone. it’s just my buddy can LS swap my truck for 4000 with wiring harness and everything besides trans. which honestly is a good deal because it’s a brand new motor, but yeah a lexus v8 swap isn’t very common. and about a new car no thanks, i’d rather build this and have something different you know and it’s my first truck so i wanna make it cool

4000 for an LS swap? That’s a steal, that would definitely be the road I’d take

 

oh for sure. just don’t wanna push it too hard and blow my differential or something lol, it is a V8 after all and i’d probably run it kinda hard

There's been a few well documented 2UZ swaps into 3rd gen 4runners ( basically the stock layout in a 4th gen V8 4runner) so it's not impossible to cram a Toyota /Lexus V8 into something that it never "belonged" in. Since you have a 5 lugger, I would imangine it being a 'bit' easier since exhaust wouldn't interfere with drivetrain/steering systems. That said, there's a few threads on turbo'd 2.7s in trucks and sand rails, it seems that 300HP is all they can handle but that would be more then enough to motivate a reg cab 2wd truck.

 

LS2 or 3 my buddy supplies brand new or rebuilt motors, i’ll most likely ask for brand new. Don’t know if i said this but i’ll probably look for a corvette 6 speed for it too just so it matches. i’ll keep everyone updated about my decision thanks for the help
