Looking towards getting kbvoodoo brackets/crossbars, and a hard ski carrier box to give myself dedicated, lockable, storage above my OEM tonneau in the winter. I love the look (from creeping on others in the lot) - but I'm worried about blocking rear visibility and noise.

Anyone able to post some pics or provide insight on visibility/noise differences between the standard or hi-rise height cross bars when you include a box?

Are there reasons to mount the box directly behind the driver, or passenger side, specifically, or is it just personal preference?

FWIW, I have no plans for a roof top tent/ other bulky items, and I understand the OEM tonneau will not open/fold without first removing a crossbar. I currently just lay my skis across the bed diagonally and toss/cram stuff around them, but I really struggle to reach anything that ends up in the front corner, creating dead space past the skis. I would love a better way to transport 3-6 pairs of skis, poles and duffels while keeping the back seat available for the doggo.

    Thanks!

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Visibility - that's what side mirrors and the back-up cam are for. Learn how to use them. The only time I look thru the cab's rear window is to check what I have in the back.
Wind noise - can't speak to what you're considering, but I can tell you that the rack & crossbars on my '98 were not an issue. Had a Leer cap + rack on my '06 - removed the rack only because of fuel economy (picked up 1-2 MPG without it). My '21 has a Leer cap also with a rack - no wind noise (with either cap + rack) that I can hear.
