If you run the Entune App Suite app in the background I believe it works as a backup data source for traffic and weather. Your radio should use the HD signal for traffic and weather, not XM. Disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes should help too. It reboots the HD tuner and forces it to pull new data in.

My app doesn’t recognize my vin, so i can’t connect to the entune app suite.. What do you think causes this? Is the entune app suite just called Toyota on the app store? There is another one but it’s the app suite 3.0 and it only goes down to 2018 so that doesn’t work either

I'm not sure which Entune app you would use. My 2013 (with a 2014 nav system) uses the app called "Toyota Entune". The plain "Toyota" app is for the newer models where you can remote start your car. Did you put a different system in your truck than what came with it?

I'm very familiar with the Lexus systems because that's where I work but Toyota's are usually similar but can be very different.

I did not and they’re isn’t an entune app on the app store anymore, the only options are entune app suite 3.0 for 2018+ models and the toyota app.
That sucks i just want to know the weather

My 2014 has the basic entune with xm and hd radio and is not a radio that works with the app on my phone. The weather only loads when in certain areas like a big city.. and in most areas is says weather not available. Mostly useless in my opinion.

Do you still see it when you press the app button on entune? I have just the basic apps and i didn’t even know weather was a thin until i saw it on a YouTube video. I live very close to a big city so i guess it should work, it’s in Canada though i hope it’s not just a US option or something wierd toyota did

I also have it set on my home screen. Nothing app wise works via phone on this radio.. just Bluetooth streaming for music and hands free calling.

If I remember correctly the iPhone/Android app doesn’t work with entune basic. Which is what I have.

Ah! You're in Canada? It may only be a US option. The Lexus side of things, it's called Enform instead of Entune. And Enform isn't available in Canada.

I just got off the phone with Toyota customer service and they told me they no longer offer the HD weather...at least on my 2015 Tacoma. The weather had stopped showing up about 6 months ago and I tried everything on these forums to get it to work. Lame!

The entune app on my 2015 is a flop. It never has recognized where I lived. It reports info from a different state. Pretty pathetic in this day and age.

My entune weather app works perfectly, almost identical to my old 2019 TRD OR w/ premium tech package. If you're having problems with the head unit or missing apps, try downloading the latest firmware update and flashing your HU with a thumb drive.

    https://www.toyota.com/firmware-updates#

The weather app recieves weather data from the local HD radio stations around you. If you're receiving bad weather info, it's probably because the radio station closest to you is either not broadcasting HD radio signal or it is only broadcasting data for where that actual antenna is, regardless of where you are relative to it.

The owners manual talks more about how it works. Obviously the service doesn't work very well in rural parts of the country but it works pretty well in urban areas. I'm glad I have it & it's a free service to boot. $0.02
