    What’s up boys and girls,

I bought 16’ TRDOF from Carvana. It’ll be my first. I’ve dug through the service records and it appears that the dealer it was with in Ohio took care of the K0D Plug kit for the frame and bunch of other stuff. I’m coming from an 03 4Runner V8 so I’m excited for some bed space and a little bit of luxury in some of the updated crap they threw in there.

Truck had some “rare” options including heated seats, moon roof, hard tonneau cover and bed liner. Also a JBL package. All in all I’m pretty hyped. My runner has the typical V8 manifold leak and I recently discovered a rust hole so with our first kiddo on the way I needed something safe. Next to go(unfortunately) is the wife’s FJ, also need something with 4 doors for her. Carvana is offering some pretty stupid money for the FJ with close to 140k on it so we’ll probably get her into a newer Runner in a few months.

Considering a pop n lock for the tailgate but other than that keeping it stock. What’s the consensus on the pop n lock?

Coming from Ohio I would VERY carefully examine the frame for rust issues, regardless of what you've been able to scrounge on records.

Your 'rare' options sound like it's a Limited, not an OR? Not sure, but if it is it will have more chrome.

Hope it all works out well for you. Post pics when it arrives.

Yea that’s the plan. I have seven days to give it back so I’m gonna scrutinize every inch of the thing. I understand timing cover leaks were a thing and the water bypass plastic tube was a thing. Hopefully it works out tho. I agree with you that the trim sounds more like a limited, but the vin comes back TRD OffRoad.

Carvana is where I bought my 2020 Tacoma. They have been a real pleasure to deal with, there were a few minor scratches not mentioned but they had an appointment for me at a shop the next day, they were short on drivers and couldn't deliver on the day so they sent an Uber to pick me up so that I could pick it up at one of their hubs thats fairly close to be.
    Have fun with your truck!

So far they’ve been great. Easy to deal with on the phone, I even said to them I’ve been waiting for the problems to arise in whatever form that may be and so far nothing. I noticed they had some info wrong, they promptly fixed it. They told if there’s any reason at all I either don’t want that truck or any truck within seven days, no questions ask full refund. I hope it continues to be like this up to delivery. I even got 500$ mentioning my brother in law that used them and he gets 100$ if I keep the truck. If at the end the truck is mint and delivery is smooth, it’ll be worth the inflated prices just for not having to go to a dealer.

Yeah, I hear you about the price, I paid a little more than I wanted(Bluebook) but it only had 8,000 miles on it and I wanted an Access Cab which seem to be non-existent where I live and Toyota said they aren't doing factory orders. I'm happy with the truck and the service.
That FJ should fetch some good cash, I would try like Facebook marketplace before selling to Carvana.
Good luck with your new truck and post back when you get it.

The FJ is all red TRD with the red interior. I just can’t be bothered to deal with people, I don’t want anyone coming to my house and kicking the tires on the truck. Just want to get a number and have a new truck delivered when that’s picked up. You’re right tho doing a private sale would definitely yield more just not worth the aggravation of having to deal with other humans.

no they exist, I just bought a 17 TRD OR with those same options, and they’re pretty rare because when I was looking to buy I didn’t see many like it. But I bought mine Friday and got out of it today because I found the super white paint peeling issue going on

Only thing I'm kinda bummed on is I'm very used to the power sliding rear glass in my runner and I think the glass in back of Frito is manual. But i'm not even 100% sure. I bought this truck and then realized oh shit its got this and that and the other thing. I think the whole seven days to give it back really stuck with me....

Sounds like the truck has some pretty top shelf options. FWIW my truck has power sliding back glass

Yea I’m going off the description not calling it out and I don’t see the typical button that I’ve seen on others. I’ve briefly read about others using an actuator to make it power but I think I’ll just deal with sliding it open.

The switch would be in the center just above the Qi charger

According to the list of options mine was supposed to have a rear sliding window but it actually didn't so Carvana is giving me a 200.00 refund. I ended up printing the window sticker and Carvanas option list then compared to what was on the truck and everything else matched. Mine is a stripped down SR but you have a ton of options

Frito got a clean bill of health from my mechanic today. It's a keeper. only real caveat has been it got delivered without a tailgate key so im working with carvana for them to get me one made or the tailgate refitted. all in all this was the easiest transaction of a car i've ever had.
