My new 2021 Tacoma came with the lockable bed storage compartments installed. They look a lot better than they actually are and hold a very small amount of whatever you have to carry. I've ordered a folding tonneau cover which will not fit with the storage bins installed. I looked at several folding covers, none of which would fit with the storage installed, so I removed the bins this afternoon , it took about 30 minutes total.

My question is, do these have any value to anyone who thinks they look cool? Has anyone sold a set of these, I haven't decided if I'll keep them or not, but I really don't need them? Anyone know what they might be worth? They're way too heavy to ship anywhere,

Once you get a roof rack you can bolt them up there for “overlanding”

Thanks, the truck came with the roof racks, another accessory that will likely never be used. :fingerscrossed:

I'm sure you could sell them locally here or on Craigslist, simply because they're a new item and people will want to add an option not available to them via other means.

These bins are funny when it comes to resale. New they cost a ton, but on the used market they are pretty much worthless for the same reasons you removed them. Anyone who wants them for storage wont pay much more than the cost of a plano bin that can hold the same stuff but can be removed.

That is very much on target and exactly what I have. The 108qt Plano has been killer and just lives there except when I need to haul something.

Yep, I have 2 of the mediums and 4 of the smalls. Each one has its own use so I can just toss in the one I need for that day.

Agreed. I could have gone with the 67qt one if I had a bit more storage in my garage for the stuff in there. As is, my camping and general utility stuff is scattered all over the house and garage as it is combo of wheeling, camping, and emergency supplies. I should really get on with organizing it all.

I just did that myself last fall. Big metal storage racks from Sams Club, and a bunch of totes organized with camping, OR recovery, Fishing, etc etc. Looked great until I hung all of our bikes and kids stuff up and started accumulating parts for my lift. Now I can barely get to the well organized bins lol.

Oh man. Don't you hate when that happens.

For us, it is time to offload the stuff that the kids haven't used in a long while.

I don't always Overland, but when I do I put 100lbs on the roof for $2000 (when I could put it in the bed for free)
