Cool ! I think it's the same storm that's headed my way tonight. Do the locals freek out and buy a months worth of TP, milk and liquid snacks when it snows there? That's the running joke around here- the grocery stores are slammed as soon as the "S" word gets mentioned. They also fill their gas tanks so that the cars that can't drive in deep snow get plowed in, but at least the tank is filled.... ( insert sarcastic voice for that last bit. Sometimes I type the sarcasm that I hear in my brain, but the intent doesn't make it into the words so things sound bitter when they weren't meant to be bitter)

Thanks for that feedback. This is the 3rd company since I started looking in June that has done something like this, I was really starting to question myself about anything that I may be doing wrong ( like asking for an appropriate salary, lol ). All you hear about is the skilled labor shortage, yet I personally know people with similar backgrounds that can't find the work either, although industry is crying about how they can't fill the vacancies.

Any idea what kind of R factors for insulation that the building codes require for that kind of climate? I've always been curious about that. The rancher that I stayed in when I was in Cheyenne, WY for a winter seemed like "normal" construction, but it didn't seem to take much effort from the HVAC system to keep it a comfy 60° when it was zero ( or colder ) outside.

Was at the store yesterday and didn't notice or see any panic buying

I've got a gas water heater on raised platform on one side of the garage with a concrete filled poles protecting it . With my truck parked on that side it is 3" to long and the garage door won't clear the rear bumper when closing . Even if I park the Camaro on that side it also won't fit

Believe me if it would fit the Tacoma would be in the garage

Roofs and walls are min 38 and 21. Basements and slabs need to be insulated too
Where I used to work we made SIPs and we were able to get much higher r values - 48 and 25 or about that. Lot more efficient than stick framed buildings.

My Taco rests in the driveway while my wife's Venza sits in the garage. Mine has remote start and hers doesn't. If mama ain't happy..... I need room to hang out in the garage anyway. I can start mine while eating breakfast and I'm good to go. I could fit mine in the garage with hers again again too, but I would have to relocate way too much of my "useless stuff". It's too friggin cold out there to mess with this season. Maybe next year....

Yeah. Youre supposed to wash and wax them once in a while too.

Call your local municipal office, building department. They can be very helpful, when it comes to insulation more is not always better, buildings need to breathe.
