2016 Tacoma 3.5L. What brand and gap plugs? Also, air filter replacement?

Last air filter I bought was a Fram CA 11895.

While you are changing the air filter you may want to do the cabin filter too (

$13 Fram CF10374 for Dodge/Toyota Vehicles

Fram CF10374).

 

You have to watch the videos on you tube. It is a bit of a job, not near as bad as the 1980's Cadillacs but a little bit of a challenge. Oh you are just asking about the brand and gap, sorry, I searched around and ended up getting mine from the Toyota dealership.

That video isn’t very helpful for the driver side. He skips over all the things you have to remove and the struggle of getting everything out on that side. I was tempted to change my own after seeing this video but after reading the comments and hearing from others it sounds like it may not be as easy as this video makes it out to be?

 

If you are having a had time finding out this simple info . i think changing the plugs will be over your head maybe,

Some have said it can be 2 of more hours if you don't know what your doing, about 1 hour if you do.
Air filter 30K ... no problem, cabin filter ever look at it every10K easy also. Plugs 60K to 70K sucks

If your looking to learn ( that's a good thing) just know its about a 6 on the pain in the ass scale.

Just did my spark plugs today, used Denso OEM plugs, take the air intake out for the passenger side and for the driverside you honestly just figure it out, unbolt a few brackets, unplug some connections and shimmy out the ignition coils, pretty straight forward, as for gap I didn't worry about it I just threw them in, truck runs great! Also I didn’t check the manual before but seeing it now it says to not adjust the spark plug gap?

Your username is fitting. You started by assuming it would be over “my” head, but then go on to quote what “some have said”. I’m guessing you’ve never done it yourself, either.

I can do the work. Just wanted to make sure I was getting the right shit before doing it…

I took one of the easier to reach plugs out of the passenger side. I know the picture quality isn’t the best (couldn’t focus close up because I have a shit phone) but does it look like it’s time for new plugs? I have 116,000 on the truck and have no idea when they were changed before I bought it, 10,000 miles ago.

 

Thought the same thing about the video, nice the guy took the time to make it but the light was poor and he left the real hard stuff off such as:

Loosen the bottom bolts on those bars?
How was an extension maneuvered under the intake down into the head, I don't see how you have any clearance never mind pulling the plug out?

I will opted to remove the intake and save a lot of frustration. I'll make a video of what is involved.

Changed out passenger side and no issue running three new and three old.

Did transmission fluid and noticed smoother shifting and that was easy to do, good thing I started off with that.

 

0 reason to pull the intake doing this, no way does that make it easier or quicker. Go in through the wheel well to get the bottom bolts. Easy.


Also no need to gap the plugs, they come GTG.

I changed mine at 58k and it was pointless. They were plenty good still.
