    Hi everyone,
Had an issue this morning with my truck. First trip of the day, going down my steep drive nose first, when I applied the brakes, got a groaning sound, and it felt like both front side brakes were grabbing. After I was on a level road, no further issues. Original brakes
With 18,000 miles on my 2017 Sr 4X4 with no previous issues. It was down to freezing and raining overnight. Any thoughts?

    Thanks for the help

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
ABS kicking in would be my guess.

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess that would be a possibility. That would explain the front rotors and not the drums doing it since I was on a steep incline pointed down. I'll keep an eye on it..

    thanks

The grab and groan was the cold pads wiping surface rust off the cold rotors.

Well, if it was ABS you would feel pedal pulsation as it activated and released rapidly.

If everything worked fine the rest of the day, I'd not worry about to much.

BTW, rear drums will often groan with under light application, especially when cold. Sounds do funny things sometimes, so if you hear it again, consider it might be from the rear.

The rotors they install on the new tacomas are the same as they used on the 2nd gen tacomas. They are way to thin for our trucks, My 19 had a high speed steering wheel shake when the brakes were applied. I took it to Toyota and they said the rotors are crap and even though I was only at 26k miles, it's considered wear and tear item no warranty coverage. So, I upgraded the front rotors and pads to Powerstop slotted and drilled. Not as good as some out there but way better than oem, and they were cheap compared to oem replacements.
