Checked my mpg when I got home and it was actually 20.9(last photo taken showed 20.8) pretty happy about that. Is this where I should be or does it get better? This just my 5th/6th drive on my new 22’ TRD OR 4x4 and it still feels like a dream come true each and every drive!!

On my 21 off road I started about there and then tended to get worse as my old driving habits kicked in haha. I believe 65 on the freeway is optimal for mpg it’s just a bit hard to drive that pace for me

Thanks for the reply! I guess I can see that happening, and yes I agree haha, although I’m not a fast driver anymore, I already want to speed up a tad bit, but will admit I been trying to be mellow on throttle and brakes for the break in period, if that’s a thing haha. I felt like I heard “The Car Care Nut” talk about it in his super informative long videos on the 3rd gen Tacoma. How’d you go about it when new? Just natural drive style?

I mean I drove it pretty normal I just didn’t do any hard launches or push it to redline when I first got it. After that 500 mile break in then I took it off road

I've had my 22 Offroad for about a week now and have driven it about 10 days for a total of 170 miles and I'm averaging 17MPH so id say you are getting some great mileage IMO.

That is at a full tank, wait till it's closer to empty for a better idea on what your average is.

Damn! Haha! I hope not, from what I’ve heard, that was mpg of peeps that get lifttt kits, way bigger tires, and other mods that can effect it. I guess I’ll see what happens.

Next time you fill up, reset your trip odometer. When it's time to fill back up, go to same exact pump if possible, fill until the pump shuts itself off. (Do this every time) then take the miles driven ex: 258.3 and then divide by the number of gallons pumped, ex: 14.27. This will give you your real would mileage vs computer. You should try this and see if there's a difference from what your truck is telling you. IME, computers usually fib a bit. lol

Aww man! Haha. I guess whatever it will be, will be. I’m loving it regardless, and thankfully rarely do long tips in that case. I hope yours has been treating you greatly despite mpg’s!

When you first fill the tank you can coast down a hill and see 40 MPG, but it will balance out as you get towards empty. My Truck probably has a solid 20 MPG average since new with better numbers in the Summer versus the Winter.

Glad you’re loving your truck! When I was 100% stock, I would average 21mpg. Then I put bigger heavier tires, and a rack, and now I’m overjoyed to get 17mpg…

I can see that happening specially with the seasonal change with snow involved. That average don’t sound bad at all tho. I’d be happy staying around there! haha. I hope yours continues solid and consistent!!

lol this. I know I can get 17, but during winter with more miles in 4hi than in 2wd and the routes I take, nope. 13 one way, 15 back. Stock had an average of 18-20. 99 downhill... maybe I'll post that like some of the others do here. "Average" :|

Thanks! And your comment gives me more confidence haha. But yea that’s what I have heard about mpg’s related to mods somewhere within the 15-17s. Cheers to your truck tho, looks so awesome!!
