Hello, thanks in advance for any input. I have a new to me 2020 off-road. Double cab long bed automatic. It has a 3 1/2 inch rough country lift on it. At highway speed it will drift to the right. I had it aligned already it seem to hold for a little bit but it is back out of alignment after less than four weeks. I’m not sure what to look at, etc. etc. I’m a total noob to Toyotas and a lifted truck.

is this a chronic issue with lifted trucks? Something I should just learn to live with? Is there a fix? Any input greatly appreciated.

It’s a rough country so you can start there. And it’s over 2”. Are the stock upper control arms still on the truck? That may be your culprit. I’d swap the suspension out though imo.

I see you are clearly not a fan! What would you recommend I change them to and how big of an ordeal is this? Both as far as what would need to be done to the truck and cost? I don’t know what it is or isn’t stock.

I’ve heard ok things about the vertx however I’m not big on rough country. That’s an aftermarket UCA I believe. However it still may be an issue. I would start with a reputable alignment shop in your area first and go from there. It could just be completely misaligned.

Thanks I have an appointment on Monday. I had it aligned at my local shop but I don’t have a lot of confidence in them. It’s not terrible but I do feel like it could be better. And since you are clearly a fan of dogs…

You have aftermarket UCAs because the bolts are in backwards (with witness marks). Take it to a reputable shop first and see what they can do. Could have been as simple as the last alignment shop not torquing things correctly. I doubt it’s an issue that can’t be fixed relatively easily. That suspension is decent, most people hear rough country and think spacers. The vertex have decent reviews.

Cool pups BTW what are they?

Are you saying they are in backwards as in they are not set up correctly as in the photos? Need to be changed? I don’t know anything about lifts and how they work to be totally honest-clearly.

I am fostering these two pups for the local Humane Society. They will be up for adoption next week. Not sure what they are other than totally awesome and adorable.

They are in backwards. There are mixed feelings on that. The reality is for UCAs on 3rd gens you either cut the bolts and run new bolts in backwards, or bend the sheet metal of the inner fender. I’ve seen Toyota manuals say to install them backwards when replacing. It’s not a big deal IMO. I have SPCs waiting for install, I bought new bolts with the intention of cutting the factory bolts and running new Toyota UCA bolts in “backwards”. These probably go in by machine before the cab is on the chassis. Go to a reputable shop and get it addressed or take it back where you already paid and tell them to fix it.

very cute. I have a 95lb mut, protective as hell, but a great dog and I’ve had dogs with champion field trial bloodlines.

One more question. When I swap my summer wheels and tires back, will I have to do another alignment? My summer tires are 285 in my winters are 265s. Both mounted on TRD pro rims.

Hard top camper...many more to add+
I also had a pull to the left…lifted 2.5 inch ,32 inch tires, had some rubbing , ask the wheel alignment shop to more passenger side tire , forward 1/2 inch…mean tire pull. Went back to the Tech , you need to move the driver side forward…1/2 ..( note from factory ..driver side was already 1/2 more forward..reason passenger side rubbing only…. I have a SPC upper control arm …with the lift install early..

could be one side tire alignment maybe off and need to be move forward or backwards?
    Aloha

Take it to an alignment shop that has experience with lifted vehicles. Talk to them and explain the issue. If they are a good shop they will fix your issue and have the knowledge to make you happy and keep you returning. A Joeblow alignment place may not have this type of experience. I suggest calling around.

Move the left front tire to the right front and the right front to the left front. See if it goes straight or pulls to the left
