So I've been seeing a lot of ads lately for these Sylvania LED bulbs that are available at Canadian Tire: https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/9003-sylvania-zevo-led-headlight-bulbs-2-pk-0200503p.0200503.html

They are advertising these as being direct replacements for factory halogen bulbs. In fact, on their ads on Instagram they are even replying to comments and saying that these are perfectly street legal. That can't possibly be correct can it?

@crashnburn80, have you ever tested these bulbs?

Thanks @Toy_Runner, that's what I thought. Shame, I thought Sylvania was a reputable company.

I despise LED's in reflectors. Especially Tacomas.

I've tried them in the H11 format in a projector, though that is a different animal. Review posted here. Note the disclaimer, "for sale in Canada only" as the LED products are not legal in the US to be labeled as headlights. I would not recommend these products. A dual beam (high/low) reflector is about the worst case scenario for a replacement LED bulb, as you end up with dark spots in the pattern, non-uniform light distribution and inevitably light seems to stray to the high beam reflectors and causes increased glare. A halogen bulb is the correct light source for a halogen assembly.

That's pretty shady of them to market them like that.

I have the Sylvania Zevo brand for map lights and like them a lot, I would get them again. I also have a Zevo for the Dome light and dont notice any difference with it, I will not get the map light again. Sorry I didn't do anything with the headlights.

    Thread resurrection alert. Sorry.

I recently put these on my 2012 Tacoma. Very noticeable improvement over the Philips bulbs that replaced the factory ones.

The glare from the Zevo is much softer than many of the other LEDs on the highway. Not nearly as bright. Im not seeing “dark spots” and the lighting pattern seems uniform. I need to test more with the high beams but better than what I had before easily.
