Hey all!!! I have had a 2008 Tacoma since last spring. Trying to find out what my best options for remote lock/start are that are aftermarket. All suggestions welcome.

On an unrelated note, I just saw a post about how 4x4 on the 3rd gens should be used occasionally to keep it in working condition. It's my understanding that this is also true of the second gens. We recently had a snow storm so I took that opportunity to put some use on the 4x4 system.

Thanks again for any and all advice. First post here, just crossed over to 212,500mi and going for second oil change in my ownership!!

I really enjoy the “Viper” for auto start and alarm system, they have many options also

I did the DIY system from 24Volt solutions. Install was straightforward. I have 1 remote that offers "2way" feedback, so I know via a flashing LED and chimes if the truck was successfully started, is running and if the 15 minute timer times-out. Recently I started the truck from 0.25 miles away, with one building between me and the truck. Pretty impressive.

I got my Taco used from a dealer. I now have a master key, but still no FOB. It does have a security system. It has manual locks and windows(old school). My question is will any of this prevent the system from working as it should? My knowledge is enough to do the basics but not confident to do the more complex. I'd probably buy the kit and then have it installed. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!
