JBL System Upgrade 3rd Gen Questions

Truck came with the JBL system included.

I upgraded the doors to the JBL Stadium GTO960C woofer.

Dashboard upgraded to the JBL Stadium GTO20M Midrange.

Tweeter is disconnected due to humming noise.

Rear upgraded to the JBL GTO629 6.5.

Subwoofer upgraded to

Amp has been upgraded to the XR600-6DSP with maestro AR integration.

Maestro was flashed to the 2021 toyota flash within which is a generic flash as opposed to the earlier tacoma flashes in which the vehicle specifically shows up and has more options.

The only selection once flashed seems to be a gain if I remember correctly. But I thought the whole point of the maestro intergration was so that you wouldn't have to set a gain.

System has noticeable distortion with certain songs over volume 30 and noticeable distortion with all songs over 35.

Would anyone know any possible fixes? Is it simply that gain setting? Has anyone else worked with this year Tacoma and the maestro system?

Were all upgrades 2 ohm speakers? Besides sub and why woofers in doors?

Jbl is very hard to upgrade, took others long time to figure them out. Few threads on the ones that were successful.

 

Sounds like your gains are too high. I have the same speakers and get a hiss if I turn up the gain too high on my dsp (not the amps gain)

 

All the upgrades were JBL 2.5 ohm speakers besides sub. The front doors got a component set of speakers and that's just what the larger speakers that go in the door are called. The tweeter for the front is separate and has to be installed in the door sails eventually.

Pretty sure the speakers I got would work well with the stock amp and with the current amp I have now. I've done my research and this is pretty much the best bang for the buck regarding the speakers, I'm just wondering if I got something wrong with the amp at this point.

Recently reflashed the maestro AR unit to the generic 2021 Toyota flash and set the amp gains to "Level 3" where it was at "Level 4" before, the only other option was "Input Voltage Sensitivity" which I left at default. Lets see if it helps.

Lowering the gain level showed no appreciable loss in distortion but a noticeable difference in volume. Still looking for a solution.
