Pretty much. If you can arbitrage a $1000 a millisecond it's amazing how fast you get your ROI back for your criminal enterprise.

Combine that with payment for order flow… You can jump in the middle of virtually every trade

How people are literally not rioting in the streets over this blatant and obvious theft is beyond me. Blinders on. Nobody wants to hear it.

I'm less worried about hardware these days and just pay for an Azure account and spin up a VM with the compute I need. If I screw up and go too big I'll just downsize the CPU and RAM at the click of a button. If I want Linux OS, spin up a Linux machine and attach my storage drive. Haven't gotten fancy with scripting deployments but I understand it is only a few lines of code. Only downside is paying for storage. You pay once for the hardware in a retail setting but then you are stuck until you upgrade. In the data center you pay by the drink so if you have terabytes of tasty memes and spicy .gifs your ass is paying for however much storage you have allocated. Used or unused.

I will say, datacenter bandwidth is unbelievable. If you live in the sticks and have limited bandwidth with this setup you're only using the internet to connect remotely to your Azure VM. Your VM leverages the datacenter's bandwidth and freaking FLIES. It is amazing. Just remember to deallocate the machine when you are done using it for the day (or set an auto-shutdown) or you will be paying for the machine when it isn't in use. Infrastructure as a service is pretty cool but it does have its downsides. For me, I just have an average little Mac book pro air and if I need serious computing power I'll spin up a Windows Server with 64 gigs of RAM and 8 CPUs. I don't speak AWS since my current and previous shops are Microsoft shops but I'm sure Amazon has similar pricing tiers for their VMs if you habla AWS.

But they're not just doing that though. They're stealing from you and me, our 401Ks and our IRAs. It's trickle UP economics. No bootstraps is gonna save any of us, we're getting fucked by corrupt billionaires and complicit legislators and there's zero we can do about it. Our entire financial system is a giant ponzi scheme designed to do one thing. Keep the rich richer.

I mean, er. I don't believe any of that. Keep consuming, citizens.

I wasn't sure if that was too close to the line so I deleted my comment out of an abundance of caution

You're supposed to use /s at the end I think in modern internet parlance. I should have caught it my first read through, but I do love to rant and rave
