Friend of mine wanted to see the payload capacities for 3rd gen long wheel base double cab Tacomas. Could you kind folks snap some pictures of your door jamb stickers and post them up on here? TIA!

After everything else in your truck it’s like 500 lbs or less haha.

Towing is 6,400 before deductions I believe.

1/2ton is in line for a medium size truck. While the V6 / 4WD might be the most common DCLB config, it takes a hit. There will also be another reduction for any options above that with a little yellow sticker indicating it.

The likely limiting factor is the braking system for compliance to original testing. Most of our parts can be found on other Toyotas with greater gross weights / payloads.

Would you folks say there’s about a few hundred pounds of leeway for the payload capacities?

He has a DCLB 4x4, which is the only work sized Tacoma haha. It’s not like the ACLB 4x4 bumps it up to 1,800 lbs or something…

There's always room for leeway, depending on the circumstances. I've put plenty more than 1000 lbs of stone in the bed of my TRD Sport DCLB but only for a short distance and on in town roads where the speed limit is 50 km/hr. I wouldn't do it if I had to go on a major highway or drive more than 10-15 km though.

There's always a safety margin. That comes down to the person behind the wheel though. Are they trying to haul overloaded, over the speed limit, in the left lane, with their high beams on, and two inches of the bumper of other vehicles? :D

Okay, but there is a 6k config in there:

Could be an error or it could be real?

Not only there, but many modded Tacos here are over gross without people or payload.

Yeah. You were referencing the 6400lb from the that column, right?

950 to 1,500 seems alright until you realize that’s all weight, driver, passengers, water jug, tools, blankets, jacket, it all adds up quick. The payload of a 4x4 DCLB after driver and extras is likely under 500 lbs haha.

Said payload is under 500 after anything in the truck and towing is under 6,400 as well.

I am aware, but when speaking about capacities, it is still a half ton truck.

All vehicles have this problem. Cars with peeps on board can't really carry anything else. Max'ing out advertised payload / tow capacities of full size duallys is usually a special order as it is a really specific configuration to get the big numbers stated on commercials.

OP just wanted payload. It’s 950 minus occupants/gear/tools. Thread is answered ha.
