I have a 2020 tacoma and wife drives 2021 Rav4. Looking for a scanner to check codes and live data. I'm getting ready to do all my fluids at 30k and first thing I will use it for would be tranny fluid temp. I prefer a hand held wired over the Bluetooth phone app. Free upgrades would be nice and no subscription costs. Mainly Toyota use but ability to use on domestics would be a plus. Looking in the $200-$250 price range max. What y'all using and pros/cons etc.

The cheapest one you can find that will bleed ABS and reads trans temp. I have the Innova 3160RS. There's plenty of others out there that meet that criteria, it just happened to be on sale when I was shopping.

Following this as well. I don’t have any immediate needs for one, but couldn’t decide between getting one of the cheaper <$50 models or if I should spend $200 or so.

I also have the Innova 3160RS. It is a great OBD2 reader and it will do what you require.
Free upgrades and it will display your automatic transmission fluid temperature.

I just went online and updated my software two days ago, and used it to read my transmission fluid temperature.

Scangauge is also good, but I like the Innova 3160RS better.

I got both instruments on Amazon.

I recently bought a BlueDriver Bluetooth model off Amazon. Was recommended to me by a buddy, and I’m happy with my limited usage so far. App is pretty user friendly. And I don’t have to google codes like with the cheap $20 one I’ve used for years

I never realized the scangauge could read codes and reset. Going to look into these further.

I passed my Ohio ECheck 2 times w an o2 sensor code. Ha! You clear the code, get put of the car and on your way.

Its nice to have. Only thing it wouldnt clear is the tpms.

It also can be used to monitor speed, you can change the speedo on the scan gauge to match bigger tires. Shows all sorts of awesome information.

These are at the top of my list. The 3160g must be the newest model it's $50 more then 3160rs, not sure what that $50 gets you. iCarsoft TYT II Scanner is a top recommendation for Toyota specific features but have lots of complaints

So I ended spending a little more but it will pay for itself. I got the Innova 5610 because of the ability to have bi-directional communication i.e. I can send a sensor info and get a reply. It was only a little more then the 5510. Found one on eBay for $280

Do I hooked it up today to get a idea how it works and it says my vehicle isn't supported for certain features i.e. trans temp being one of them. Sent them an email and hoping it's just something I can do a download for. I think this is where they get you $$ :)

Strongly considering picking up an Innova 5610 for my 2014 Tacoma. How much have you used your 5610 so far? Are you satisfied with it?
