Hey, trying to figure out why my truck has a extra shift boot. I ran the VIN and the truck is as is. 2006 5SP 4WD E-Actuator, Regular Cab. Why would there be a extra shift boot here? Did Toyota just leave the boot setup for a manual 4WD shift and just call it a day, or did this truck maybe have a reduction gearbox that was once in here. How would I be able to tell. The Transmission and Transfer case both don’t have any part number either that I can go off of. Thx.

Why did the previous owners of my house push the bathroom walls out by exactly two inches, and throw all the sliding pocket doors up in the attic? :notsure:

Unless you're the original owner, who knows what people did or their weird reasons why? Maybe they accidentally ordered two replacements and didn't want to lose the spare.

You don’t think it could be a different trans. It kinda looks like a 1st gen setup with manual 4WD.

Does your electronic tcase actuator work?

almost looks like the the previous owner was gonna or started a manual tcase swap but never finished.

Yeah. Everything works fine. It does look like that. I wish there was a way to find a part number on my TCase and Trans to verify.

:notsure::notsure: I'm saying I don't know, just guessing at the most likely.

Is there a hole below the second boot?

cool, glad to hear it. Just making sure they didn’t quit halfway with a swap and sold the truck before hooking up the tcase shifter.

Why is there a extra shift boot?

Because it was probably Monday when your truck was assembled.

Yes, the whole just goes to the top of the trans housing.

My guess is someone had plans for a manual transfer case swap but didn't get too far.
