Hey Everyone, I just got a 2014 Taco, and am doing a 3 inch lift kit. For tires, I’m trying to decide between the Mickey thompson Baja ATZ P3 or the Falken Wildpeak A/T3W. Any suggestions or insight would be appreciated!

Support your local tire shop and think about what and why they recommend tires.

The Baja look better than the Falken if that’s what your going for, and they get good reviews.

Yeah my local tire shop is only a Les Schwab, nothing else out where I am, and what they recommend I’ve read on this forum are not great. The backcountry ones.

Going for the aggressive look yes, with one that can handle snow cause I get a lot where I’m at.

Also do you think a 285 tire size will fit without trimming? I've got a 3 inch lifting, looking at either 285/75/17 or 265/70/17. Thanks!

parent company Sumitomo makes the Open Range A/T for Les Schwab, which is roughly based on the Encounter A/T.

I would avoid wildpeaks. Mine were very hard to balance and are having dry rot issues on the sidewall. Tires are less than 2 years old.

    This and that...
If you have your size figured out, compare weights. Having a few less pounds spinning might help.

I got a great deal on these Ironman MT’s, figure I’d just try them out and see how they do. Got my new black rhino wheels on too! 98084D39-08C0-4AA4-AF5F-C54A2109F558.jpg

How do you like the Ironmans? Looking at the same tire, just stumbled upon them

They’ve done really well off-road in the parts I’ve been so far. Also took them in some snow and it did well. Traction is so-so in heavy rain, slips here and there, but that could just be the difference between MT and AT. These are my first mud tires so not sure, but that’s what I’m kind of figuring. Overall I’m happy so far.

Looking at 265/70r17. I'd like 255/80r17 but not now.

Interesting. Opposite experience for myself. Wildpeaks are over 4 years old. No issues with them other than its time for a new set.

I have had my Wildpeaks on for about 18,000 miles. Love them. I camp off the beaten path a lot in the summer and do some OR, as well. Never a problem... so far. Love the way they look. I also use my taco as my everyday vehicle without any problems... rain.. snow...

I bought mine on craigs from a guy who had a jeep gladiator where they came standard. He had about 500 miles on them. I took them to Discount and they mounted for $60. Awesome deal. I would do it again 1000x over!!

Check out the cooper rugged trek. In that size, you can get them in load range SL and XL. They are pretty light for an all terrain. I wanted to try something different than ko2 on my first gen and I'm really liking them so far. Only put them on about 5k miles ago though.
