Ive got a 89 pickup with the 3vze. I have replaced the front and rear crank seal but, the engine is still leaking a fluid. I also took it to a mechanic to replace the valve cover gasket and its still leaking. this lead me to believe that it wasn't oil that it was leaking and I found that the power steering pump was leaking as well so I replaced it and its still leaking the fluid. Does anyone know of a common place where it would leak the fluid? (The fluid is on the passenger side of the vehicle and leaks onto my power steering lines and drips to the bottom of the transmission and the front differential)

I use to have a 93 with the 3vze, always wished I had the 22re instead. Anyway hows the oil pan gasket look? Also are you able to confirm if its engine oil leaking? Seems you're not so sure of the fluid type that is leaking. If engine oil an its coming from the passenger side, it may be the passenger side cam seal. Hard to tell if those are leaking without pulling the timing cover.

The only time I ever would recommend a parts cannon is while your in there services on a car you really love....

And don't care about spending a ton of money. You need to find a mechanic that can for sure tell you what's wrong.

You really need to clean everything good so you can determine the actual source of the leak otherwise it's just a guessing game.

THIS^^^^. Until you clean the engine and then inspect it, as said above it’s just a guessing game.

I agree. Clean the heck out of it and reinspect carefully as it leaks so you can find the source.

So i cleaned it and threw in some leak dye, and it's a leaky cam seal because it's coming from the timing cover higher up on the engine.

Good find!! Might as well do a timing belt while you're in there. RockAuto has the Aisin kit for $152 and that's the only one I can recommend since it uses parts from manufactures that produce parts for Toyota. Even if the timing belt isn't due for replacement, it might be a good idea to replace at least the belt depending on how much oil saturation it has had. A belt that has been saturated with oil will have a short life span and can cause it to stretch, especially if this has been an ongoing issue for quite some time.

As for the camshaft seal, I would use the Timken one. Might as well replace the front crank seal while you're in there, it's $6. Both are also on RA, middle of the price range and is one of the OEM manufactures.

Something to look for once you have the camshaft seal removed is the condition of the sealing surface. If there is a significant groove worn into the camshaft sealing area you may need to do a "repair sleeve". They can be a bit of pain to install since it's tight tolerance fit, but it's cheaper than buying new cams.

So I'm going to a mechanic for it since I don't know how to do the replacement however I he's gonna teach me how to do it while I'm there. I did the front crank seal and the timing belt kit, however I used a Toyota belt that had been sitting in a box on the shelf so I will probably replace it because there's got to be oil on it.

Ive got a 1993 4runner with a 3vz v6 and my engine oil cooler is a leaky part due to the orings and gaskets being bad. I ordered a new set (3 different o rings/ and a round gasket) from YotaShop but I just need to install them. Hopefully this helps

If you find that it doesn't help, depending on the milage your valve covers themselves can be leaky as well as the cam caps that was what happened to mine, all the heat from the wrap around exhaust caused the thermoplastic to warp, and even when I did get the wrap around delete there was an exhaust leak that went awhile until fixed which could cause it to leak.
