I'm looking for a little input here from people that are actively looking for (and ready to buy) these wheels...

Here's the story. I recently had the opportunity so I picked up a set of these wheels in graphite. Unfortunately, they're not in as good of condition as I'd thought. They're still in good condition but well used and show their age. I was originally gonna keep them as spares or maybe just sell them off since I know so many people are looking for them right now. But, I'm wondering if maybe it may be more helpful to y'all out there if I parted them out rather than sold as a set. I'm sure there are many out there looking for a 5th to run as their spare or maybe they need a center cap because the tire shop ruined theirs, or maybe you need a replacement rock ring... Splitting them also has the ulterior motive of allowing me to have a matching spare for my truck.

So, I'm trying to gauge if there's enough demand to split them up as spares/replacements. Regardless of what I do, I need to keep at least one wheel/cap/ring as my personal spare and its preferable to me that it's one of the graphite ones. Here's a list of what I have:
    • 3 used graphite wheels only, good condition
    • 1 used graphite wheel only, fair condition
    • 1 used bronze wheel only, good condition (I'm currently using this as my spare)
    • 4 used center caps in good condition
    • 3 used rock rings in good condition with minor scratches
    • 2 used rock rings with some minor rash (I'm currently using one of these as my spare)
    AAC68EA4-A733-4918-90BD-708D2060CE62.jpg

I am NOT taking offers. Please don't PM me about purchasing. When I'm ready to sell, I will fully document and post an ad. For now, just wondering if it could help others if I split these up. Please throw a vote into the poll and if you're looking for spares/parts leave a comment of what it is you're looking for. Please keep unrelated banter to a minimum.

    Thanks!

What’s wrong with the base wheels?

The rock rings are still available as are the bolts. The only item NLA is the center cap. I’m sure supply is actively drying up, but I got a ring last month (with a factory flaw, but it’s a backup to my backup).

Could you spend a few bucks on the rings and greatly increase your profit if you sold a set? I mean if the base wheel is presentable, $100 for a new ring to replace the rashed one might make sense.

A NIB set of three sold for $400 per on eBay last week. I would think if your set isn’t new you’re better off offering them up as a moonshot

There are people that run the wheels sans rock rings. There are people that wheel the hell out of them and the rock rings keep the rim lips from getting damaged.

These people should seek medical attention immediately. Something ain’t right with them. :)

Sorry OP, as a fellow faux beadlock owner I couldn’t let this comment go by.

It’s definitely a different look and snow doesn’t pack up behind the rings causing a massive wheel imbalance!

That’s half the reason I have snow tires! My set accidentally saw salt once in a freak October snowstorm.

What’s wild is the Toyota Hilux 50th anniversary uses the base TRD wheel sans ring, fills in the ring screw holes and then polishes the outside edge of the wheel. It looks effectively the same as the black beadlock, with a twist.

I'm very aware of the status of availability as well as market pricing on these. I've seen all the recent auctions on ebay for wheels, caps...etc.

You may have gotten the last ring in the country and you got a hell of a deal (list price is $129.64). According to what I've seen they are no longer available. You can, however get them in Canada if you can find a dealer that will ship them to you (last I checked there were 52 available). Besides some wheels that may be display items at various dealers there are none left in "stock". Trust me, I've been trying to order a spare for myself for months and have contacted many dealers. Last week I found a wheel on display at a dealer a few counties north of me and bought it. But none of the dealers I've called knew that it existed and it didn't show in their system as something that could be ordered. You also need a Pro/Baja VIN to order the wheels, although this rule may be selectively applied by different dealers. The one I just bought I didn't have to provide a VIN. I tried to buy some from Canada and they required a VIN as well as a couple other hoops which weren't possible for me to jump through. There are no more graphite in stock in Canada, there are gold and black but they wouldn't tell me quantities.

But that's not the point of this thread!!

The wheels I have range in quality. The worst one looks like it's been lightly sand blasted in areas. These are multi-stage paint wheels - there's a dark (black?) base coat with graphite top coat. One is so weathered that you can see the dark base coat under the graphite. One also has a little corrosion under the paint in an area hidden from sight, but it's there. They're functionally perfect but the finish is not mint. I'm picky and try to be 100% open about things that I sell. This set isn't gonna fetch $2k on ebay.

I've already done some light fixes to the rock rings as well as a quick polish. I also cleaned the water spots off the center caps and gave them a polish.

My goal here isn't maximum profit. If I can get myself a matching spare and help others get spares too then we all win. But like I said, I'm aware what market pricing is. I'm not gonna be giving these away at bargain basement prices.

That's also not the point of this thread!!

The rings is one of the reasons I love these wheels. Having a spare set of rings is awesome and can allow you to give a beat up set of wheels a second life.

The few times I had something shipped out of Canada to me in Colorado, it was a very long uncomfortable situation lacking any details.

Interesting about the ring. I had to jump through hoops to get (4) wheels worth of bolts. I paid $20 total but had to find a random 2015 Pro VIN to use to do it. That dealer was local to me, although the ring was discontinued on their site.

The Canada / US thing is weird. I too went after the center caps in Canada via dealers but hit a wall after a poor interaction with the guy who had a bunch. I ended up overpaying for a pair that I’m hoping I don’t get scammed on from another source to have a few more spares.

I swore these were powdercoated when I had my black set, but your comment about multiple colors makes sense after cleaning mine as the inner barrels are black. One of mine has a weird flaw of some sort that it looked like something fell on the wheel and exposed the black undercoat, which makes zero sense, but that’s life these days.

Ultimately these are your backup wheels, right? If you can afford to sit on them you could definitely potentially get more selling them as singles or as parts, but in the same I also feel like selling them as a whole set would be the quickest and easiest way to do it. Build the best set you can using the parts from all five. It defeats your idea of having a spare, though. But how annoying would it be to have a situation where you’ve got two gunmetal and a bronze and no bites? When I had five black I was selling I got less than 25% for the fifth wheel (all five new in box), but that’s before they were NLA.

That being said, why not sit on them and have a backup if you need it? The bronze should fetch decent money, even with a rashed ring. If I got a good deal on a set of four right now I’d be sitting on them as spares due to the rarity and demand. Honestly, if Toyota put these back into production I’d probably buy a sixth to be safe.

I’m being super wishy-washy I know but it comes down to how easy you want to make it on yourself. You’ll have plenty of bites but do you want to be left with an assortment of parts that will be annoying to move.

Painted for sure! I have had each color in my hands, sans tires. What I found was neat is that the three colors all share the same part number which is in the casting.

I saw that! I have been trying to figure out who makes them. I know they’ve got the UK sticker inside the wheel. Ronal makes the 2020+ Pro wheel.

I'm not looking for max profit here. If that were the case I would not have posted this and would be approaching this much differently. I may still keep them as a full spare set. But that'll make 3 sets of spare wheels I have to store and storage is at a premium. I have a hunch that they are made by Team Dynamics (or whoever produces their wheels). I bought a set of Team Dynamics and the similarities in packaging/labeling seem to similar to be coincidence.

If you want to continue to chat lets take it to PM. I don't want to clog this thread up with the same banter I've been having in other threads for months. I'd like to keep this thread dedicated only to people who need these wheels/parts.

Title says: Selling some TRD bead locks.

Then says: I am NOT taking offers. Please don't PM me about purchasing

And….like someone else said, they are NOT beadlocks.

    My vote: Total Fail….

I guess you can't read and are just generally a rude person. If you don't have anything nice to say, you can politely leave and put your energy into other threads. I will be selling them. This isn't the for sale section. You're not even allowed to sell in this part of the forum. They aren't for sale YET. I put this thread up to help determine how best I should sell them. As such, I'm not looking for offers...yet. When I post them, I will have prices and may accept reasonable offers. But for now, I'd prefer not to be hounded.

I realize they aren't beadlocks. We all do. Did you not see that I specifically put quotes around the word for this exact reason? That's the common name for this wheel because in this day and age we use short hand and don't waste our time saying "beadlock style" for "faux beadlock" every single damn time. Get off your high horse, buddy. Your input isn't needed or appreciated.
