I agree.
5k watts will heat a decently insulated 1000 sq ft shop.

It might not bring it to 80*, but it will be a a huge amount warmer than 5*.

 

Does the boss work out in the shop at all?

If you have a small sawmill around you might inquire there about making the top.
A sawmill fellow locally supplies woodworker grade lumber and fancy trim. I am sure he could build a nice slab as well.

 

Assuming it's a 240V unit you should be pulling ~41A. Breaker needs to be sized to be 125% of full load so that would put you at ~55A for which you would use a 60A breaker.

Some calculate fan motor, some don’t. Usually in the fine print.

 

I'm thinking about buying the Kreg jig for this project and a couple roller stands for the out feed of my table saw.

 

I'm trying to keep the slab in the sub $300 budget. I want to get this done with $500 max. If I had a planer I'd just make my own out of cheap lumber, glue and clamps and lots of prep and patience.

 

kreg jig is well worth it. I built some cabinets a few years back in my garage and bought it for that. I hate being able to see exposed screws so it was awesome to hide everything.

 

I vote for the Kreg jig too.. I use the heck out of my $29 R3 kit.

Oh yeah , I see on the news where they are calling for snow. Better stock up on bread and milk. Could be several inches. May be weeks before ya can get outta the house.

 

Goodmorning crew they have more on the schedule for me today than I could possibly finish.
I'll just give them the best I can do, get what I can done. Currently working on making a large 30x30 1.25 thick piece of aluminum into a 28.12" round piece. This is one of those project pieces that I bet won't even be used. Prior they have used something like 3/8 or 1/2" steel. They wanted something more light weight. I told them years ago, seeing how this is for a leak test, you need to get engineers involved to tell me how thick this aluminum piece needs to be then. See, I wouldn't want them to pressurize a system then have it blow out and hurt or kill someone
