Keep in mind that dash cams are a dual edged sword. They can just as easily prove you were at fault as they can prove the other driver was. Here in Florida, a law enforcement officer has the legal right to seize your dash cam if he/she sees it and feels that the evidence it contains could be compromised if it stays in your possession. They then retain custody while they obtain a warrant for the contents of the cam. Here, at least, whether or not you tell them you have it is irrelevant if the cop sees you have one.

Never forget this. All the options you have to show on your screen, like speed etc, just turn them off. And yes, as dashcam videos would relay, most thing the dashcam gives them justification to be a vigilante or that their aggression in anyway on the road is tolerable. It's pretty cringe actually... Dishonesty and a lack of discipline encaged in a speeding vessel... This is why you never make it known you have a dashcam. So many people yell it at the top of their lungs from their car like it's a shield. Just pisses people off even more usually. Whatever... common sense is not common ;)

I considered the dash cam and after weighing all the pros and cons decided against getting one. Mostly for the reasons stated previously, and also because in order for the cam to be of value it has to "see" the incident. With front facing cams the other 3 sides of the truck would still be uncovered. Shame, cause it would have been one of the least expensive add-ons I've done after my console and glove compartment organizers :)

I am an appraiser in my state and I am going to say negative on the total…Prob 5k-6.5k in damages with oem parts and labor. Bumper, Fender, Headlight, Fog Bezel/Flare replacement.Sprinkle a little repair on the front door because it makes contact with the fender. They might find some damages behind what we see. Don’t think they will have to blend the hood its not even close to being on the same sight plane.

FYI….dont expect the truck to be done in a week. Right now with all of the supply chain issues getting parts is a huge PITA. I wouldnt be surprised if something was on back order for the repair.

Glad your okay! Let us know the final estimate amount.

edit…I am late to the party…glad the truck is back!

You are correct! Close to $5,800 with oem parts and labor. Turn around was 16 days but it was during the holidays so that even added more time to the wait.

    Yeah
I have a good body shop I've worked with, He would let me buy an aftermarket bumper I wanted and some other aftermarket accessories stuff the insurance was going to replace that I could order for less after my Jeep got hit by a falling tree. then he just took the OEM parts cost we didn't get from insurance off the bill. It ended up that those items covered my deductible.
There are ways to get your upgrades done with the repair
