the closer I look at this, mine/ours had raised staples, for the feetz..

 

I used to go down the hills on a skateboard deck (no trucks/wheels) quite proficiently, but strap me to a board and I was useless.

 

Anyone ever see one of them hot staple tools to repair plastic? I used one for the first time on a poly quarter fender on my tractor. It’s a piece of plastic that mounts to a pipe which slides over another pipe with a clamp to hold it onto the frame of the truck. I loosened the clamp a little to adjust it and gave the fender a little slap but it was really cold out and the clamp wasn’t loose enough and the thing cracked. Here’s how I fixed it.


You put a staple in the tool, which is like a soldering gun. The staple has 2 prongs the go into holes on the hand piece. You put the staple against the plastic part and push the button on the handle and it instantly heats up the staple. Wiggle it a bit and it sinks down. Let go of the button and count to 3 and pull the handle away. The staple is embedded in the plastic with two prongs sticking up. Cut them off with end nippers or dikes.


then you put a different tip on the handle that heats up and melts the plastic into the openings left by the staple. You can also add plastic to it which is what I did here.

Then I flipped it over and melted the crack together on the outside and Viola. Good as new.

Flat Earth Society called today and said they are running out of room due to social distancing....

 

Used them many times. You should drill out the end of the cracks and fill it with plastic putty to relieve the stresses. I've had cracks spread on me even after repair, especially in the cold.
