I mean, sure, if you're lucky it's minor and you can just live with it. But there are plenty of people, myself included, with 2005/2006 models who have had major head gasket failures under 200k miles. On my truck, if it sits for more than a day or so it becomes very hard to start since coolant gets into the cylinder and it blows white smoke, especially when starting (plus the "whooshing" sound and other symptoms). I think mine is bad enough that I am not super confident that any of the "easy" fixes like Steel Seal will last long enough to be worth the trouble.

I think anything head gasket related is likely to be much worse on 2005 and early 2006 models than on any others, based on research and experience.

Is op having major issues? I've personally only seen one 05 have a major issue in our dealer. Probably see 1 or 2 a month with minor coolant crust. I also don't like the esay fixes (head gasket in a can)

I have a 2005 tacoma prerunner that I inherited from my father when he got a 2019, the truck already had the head gasket problem, and me and my dad took the time to replace those and all the gaskets replaced along with the head bolts. I did that at the beginning of the previous year, and right now, I check my oil cap yesterday and low and behold, the cap was slightly milky. I'm curious, would cold temperatures have an effect? I would check the cap again after I have driven when it was a bit warmer and the cap is clean, so I'd like to know if the head gasket is going out again or if it's a normal thing with this engine in cold weather. Other than that, I've kept up on maintenance and recently replaced the transmission due to it having pulled a work trailer loaded with tools most it's life before my dad handed it off to me.

I'm not an expert, but one of the mechanics I went to when evaluating my head gasket problem said that condensation from cold weather can cause this symptom...so if it's the only issue you're seeing it might not be a problem at all.
