Sylvania zevos work very well as plate lights. About only ones that work without causing too much backup camera glare on f150s. Your plate lights light up the tailgate just like the furds. As much as I like the SS3s go with the zevos.

    Is that green Jello? HAHA

Curious what the output color looks like on that. What is the advantage of green over

That's a sharp looking setup!! Great for a stealthy setup for auxiliary fog lights or driving lights. Curious how they are mounted?

Not as simple as mounting duallys, where you can remove a bumper tab and bolt on.

To get that position I had to drill two holes in the plastic bumper cover and space down about 2”. The bolt used was about 2.5”. I still have to drive around at night to see if it bounces. I think it’s light weight enough to be ok.
    Thanks for the compliment.

will try to get a output pic, but its more so for a requirement for our race car in the desert. our class needs a green or blue rear light (depending on the race/state)
and we have one in the front for a look to make it easy to spot our car in the day lol.
front light (soon to be all DD lights :D )

You might want to re-visit the aiming of the passenger side. Looks a little bit high. The best way to get the aim perfect is to start by aiming against a wall. Get them where they look right vertically compared to the headlights. Then back up and give yourself about 40 feet in front of the vehicle. Stand about 30-40 feet away facing the vehicle, directly in front. Slowly squat down looking at the fogs. If they both "get bright" (that would be the cutoff line) at the same time, you have them perfectly matched. If one gets bright before the other, that light is aimed higher. Correct as needed.

Hint: With properly aimed fogs, if you get too far away, you're going to be down on your hands and knees doing pushups.

Thanks for the details on how to get the aim perfect @Too Stroked When I initially installed them I used the existing OEM fogs as a guide. When I get a little more time I'll have to revisit getting the aim spot on. I ended up using them way more than I thought I would here in the rainy PNW. It's been a brutal fall/winter this year. Record rain, then cold, then snow. Love them and get complements and questions about them from time to time. Thanks again.image2.jpg

Any suggestions for the wider vertical pattern of the SS3 Pro?

I had them in my 2nd gen Tacoma before I moved up to the Max model. I would suggest aiming them all the way down in the mounts. That's what I eventually ended up doing after much trial and error.

Thanks, I'm fiddling with them trying get a none blinding glare for oncoming traffic. I just added a new bumper and air bags on top of the Dakars so they are mounted in the new bumper. I went with the Pro because I wanted some of the spill at the top to find bambi's mom lurking in the ditches.

I actually went away from the Pros because there was just a bit too much up light. Sure, it came in handy sometimes, but it bothered a few too many drivers for me. Even though the Max's are more powerful, they bother far fewer people. The Pros found a good home in my son's Scion tC. And they're mounted so low in his front air dam that they he doesn't get flashed at all. Since your truck is lifted, aiming so as to get decent performance and not bothering oncoming drivers is going to be a bit of a challenge.

That part of the reason I haven’t gotten SS3’s for my Tacoma. The Pros work well on our Ascent since they below knee level, but I can tell they have light a decent amount of light bleed. So that makes the only options (for my preference) for my Tacoma the Sport or the Max. Sport is out of the question for my winter driving since they don’t create enough heat on the lens and the Max is more than I want to spend for a truck that doesn’t long drives at night on the high way. I will say that the Yellow lens does decrease the intensity of the up lighting to oncoming drivers, but I don’t know if it would be enough for your situation.

Maybe someday I’ll get a set of Max’s for it though. It really is an investment since they will swap to any vehicle I’ll own.

You know what they say. Power (the Sport) corrupts and absolute power (the Max) is kind of neat.

I have my brackets and Pros aimed all the way down and never get flashed even with my cap and another 200+lbs of weight in the bed. I run them any time my headlights are on. If you aim them right you should be fine.

Sometimes I think people are becoming more numb to light bleed and have given up flashing people. With more cars and especially SUVs coming from the factory with really bright LED lights now. Though the last 5 or so years they have somewhat been able run wild with glare as an OEM light, it will get better with recent changes since forward lighting is now factored into NHSTA safety ratings. You’ll notice this with the current F250/350 LED headlights where the lower projector is the low beam and the upper projector is lit only as a running light but is also the high beam. Smart move on Fords part.

Even properly aimed lights will dazzle oncoming traffic in a higher seating position in trucks or tall SUVs when cresting even the slightest incline or road crown at a stoplight. So I think people are getting accustomed to it, for better or worse. But in the same regard, the Selective yellow is far less harsh on the eyes of other drivers just like it’s far less harsh on your eyes as the driver when comparing to the clear lens. I will say comparing the Pro’s on my Ascent to my buddies Max’s on his Outback Wilderness, both with Selective Yellow lenses, it is a much clearer cutoff. But I do like the added light bleed on the Pro’s for the Ascent for the critter spotter factor!

For me, the reason I haven’t upgraded the fog lights on my Tacoma is that the H11 fog lights with Tungsram Megalight bulbs perform very well, plus the headlights are retrofitted with RX350 projectors... Ya, I love lamp (Anchorman reference). According to Crash’s testing with the OEM H11 bulb they were 203lux. In the 3rd gen H11 headlight comparison the Tungsram was close to 2x brighter than the OEM Philips bulb. If that’s similar to in the fog light then that would make the H11 fog with a bulb like the Tungsram on par with the SS3 Sport. However the SS3’s project light further than the OEM fog lights I believe. Just food for thought. I would still love to upgrade the fogs on the Tacoma at some point though!!! Hell, I have 2 vehicles with SS3 Pros Fogs and my bike has SSC2 Pro fogs. Lol So I do love their products!!!

When I posted my last response I almost said the same thing about people getting used to glare. There are a ton of people using just some cheap led headlight and fog light bulbs and put out enough glare I wonder if their high beams are on. Also with the amount of trucks with the bro lifts that dont have their lights properly adjusted probably conditions people also.
I also like the glare from the Pros too for the same reason. I notice it helps with spotting the reflectors on and along the road also.

This may be helpful to some. Here is a full how-to video on how to properly aim your SS3s. It is true that there is some light bleed on the Pros, but if aimed properly (unless cresting a steep hill), your SS3s should never blind oncoming traffic. This is regardless of the power level. If they are, they are aimed too high. Thanks, guys!
