Calling all mechanics, electricians, millwrights, plumbers, refrigeration guys, machinists, and line operators who try to fix shit themselves. I want to hear some war stories, shop gossip, tool talk and the works.

    I'll start by introducing myself.

I am an electro-mechanical tech. I, with the help of the rest of my department, somehow keep my plant of outdated garbage up and running. I work for a commercial bakery that makes frozen foods (cakes, pastries, toast) located in Southeastern PA. I rant and complain about my job a lot, but I really do love it.

Before my current job I worked as a field service tech for two OEMs, one that made equipment for aluminum casthouses and another that made filling machines for the food and pharmaceutical industries. I got to travel to some cool places and see some awesome machinery.

Good profile. Nice to meet you. I also love equipment discussion. Let gist about food service equipment since you've worked in a commercial bakery before. I went to an eatery recently and I was privileged to enter their kitchen. I love the way all their equipment, Coldline Refrigeration, Cookline Ranges & Fryers, Prepline Mixers and Worktables, Marchia Display Cases were arranged. It does not make the kitchen look untidy. I guess the arrangement must have been done by a designer or something. Maybe there is now interior designer for restaurant kitchen.

I am an electro mechanical journeyman at a glass bottle manufacturing facility in north central pa. Was a diesel tech for 18 years prior and started at the glass plant almost 2 years ago. I love my job and it's old 1/2 mile from my house!
