Thinking about moving south. Looking fo4 somewhere reasonably close to a river for the boat, but out of immediate hurricane zone. Thinking around Greenville. Looking for suggestions and advice.

    Thanks

I just read an article yesterday about how everyone and their dog is moving to Greenville. Though the article probably meant Greenville SC. I don't know much about Greenville NC.

The best lakes in NC in my opinion are Watauga (actually in TN but on border) and Lake James. Boone is close to both. I would live there if I could do my job out of there. Great place. Kinda like Asheville but not as weird. The mountains are beautiful.

Greenville NC has the Tar River , which runs to the Pamlico River, Pamlico Sound and Atlantic Ocean. Plenty of water for a boat.

Don’t do it, too many rednecks here. Keep going until you hit Florida

I don’t recommend Greenville NC. I’m a student at East Carolina University and it’s in the most boring part of the state. Absolutely nothing but flat empty fields and squatted trucks. I was born and raised in Mooresville and it’s awesome. Its right on Lake Norman and 40 mins north of Charlotte.

Wonderful area and has been growing for years. Low crime, plenty of lakes, off-roading, mountains, hiking, camping.

Curious as well moved to the Charlotte/Matthews area from NY about 7 months ago. I am liking NC took an adjustment to the slow pace and speed, weather is nicer although we got like record snow so far, still considered a dusting to me. People for the most part are a lot nicer even if i am not sure who gave them a drivers license lol. Looking to either head north towards the mountains or SC, i moved from a busy city would like something off the beaten path.

I really can't speak for rivers. But I live in Central NC. Live in High Point, work in Winston Salem. I lived in the mountains, Allegheny Co. for many years.
It's really hard to beat this state.
You have the coast and you have the mountains.
South of here hot summers. North cold Winters.
People are mostly friendly, business is booming. Forbes mag voted it the best state for business a couple years back.
Top notch Universities. Good healthcare and the cost of living for the most part is low.
Overall a good place to live.
