**I figured it out and my solution is in post #6**

I'm getting ready to install some fogs on my SR model with no factory wiring. I have the Cali Raised lights, harness, and OEM style switch. I'd like to simply splice into the factory switch that I'm placing this next to for simply lighting the switch up. Figure that this should allow it to dim as well as look cleaner as the add a circuit option makes it so you can't close the fuse box cover.

Here's a pic of the factory auto high beams switch. Left to right the colors are white, tan, green, red.

Green and tan are your illumination wires from the factory harness. Tan being ground and green being power (I think).

So the left 2 wires (black and red) are your illumination. the green is constant power and the other red goes to your fog lights.

Thanks for the reply. I've been doing a lot of reading and I just can't find a definitive answer. Seeing many posts with people with different colors. Seems like green and tan are the most common. Think I'll need to bust the multimeter out tomorrow and double check everything before install. This is just pretty new to me, so I'm a little afraid of ruining things lol. Thanks again!

One thing that I did when I hooked up for my switches is I just stuffed the wires into the back of the factory plug, then zip tied the new wires to the factory wires... they are not soldered, cut, spliced, nothing, just stuck into the back of the plug.

I can easy take them out without any trouble by just pulling on them.

Posting my results below in case anyone finds this later looking for answers.

Well took my multimeter out to the truck and tested the wires in the factory switch. Pro tip.... Use a needle to stick in the end to test. I found that the green had constant power when the truck was off. The tan wire's voltage changed with the dimmer. I connected the Cali Raised switch power wire (red and yellow) to the constant green on the factory switch so that I can use the fog lights even if the truck is off. I then connected the switch ground wire (black) to the factory tan wire that has variable voltage and it all works perfect. The switch works with the truck off and lights up with the dash lights and dims with them too.

Glad you got it all worked out, I too set my light switches work when the truck is off. I like the idea of having my front, rear, and side lights all be able to turn on when the truck is off.

Hey brotha man, i was just reading you results and im confused.... im looking at the cali raised wiring harness with the green connector (1 blck, 2 red, 1 green - wires) but you said the “red and yellow” wires did you mean to say red and green connecting to the constant green on the switch? everything else make sense but i cannot for the life of me figure this out. any help would be awesome!

This is why I dislike those switch wires. Use another color damn it!
The Red wires have a yellow stripe. Not a bad thing, except BOTH RED WIRES HAVE IT!!!!:annoyed:

The Red wire next to the black is illumination +.
    The Black is illumination -
The Red wire next to the green is your load (on/off with the switch)
    The green is your source.

And since the OP was kind enough to post his solution for future prosperity, Here is the break out on the AUTO switch
Light Green - Dash illumination +. Constant hot.
Tan - Dash illumination - PWM. Variable ground. This is how your dash lights dim.
    Red - Constant 12v+
    White/Black stripe - load

So the AUTO switch is a latching switch. When you press it in ("ON"), it completes the circuit between RED and WHITE/BLACK.
The LIGHT GREEN and TAN are just there to light it up.

*First, thank you to the group for all the solid info!
I just want double/triple check - if I want to replace my factory OEM auto headlights switch with an aftermarket switch is this the order?

    Factory White/Black - Aftermarket Red 1
    Factory Tan - Aftermarket Black
Factory Green - Aftermarket Red 2
    Factory Red - Aftermarket Green
