You'd better make sure your tires are fully inflated for your measurements if it's that close… Also, are your current tires worn down and if you install new ones with full tread, how much height are you going to lose?

I was thinking about that. Thankfully brand new snow tires on here and I set them side by side with my summer tires that are also pretty fresh and it was a very similar diameter.

That begs the question though, how should I adjust tire pressure with the Drifter?

    It's DLX son!
You'll have to do a chalk test to determine the optimal pressure for the load.

I like no fan. In my opinion, it kinda defeats the purpose of a solid 1 piece roof when you cut a 1 foot hole in it. The tent windows provide ample ventilation; at least for Northern California.

Find three people and have them stand in your truck bed. Measure before and after. Doh!!!

I too have no clearance for a fan. I did order the frame and blankoff in case my garage situation ever changed. I was thinking of cutting holes to the left and right of the pass through window and putting two, variable-speed 12v Noctua muffin fans there where they would be mostly out of the weather. With a crack in the tent windows at the top you could get some ventilation when its raining.

I have the Propex heater mounted up under the bed of my Tundra. Also thought about putting a cable operated 3-way valve in the return duct below that I could open and use the Propex fan to pull in fresh air.

I disagree after 100+ nights in a Drifter with no fan. If you can fit it, it’s worth it by every means. Necessity though? No.

Its just really nice for clearing out condensation, when its 95° in the camper, cooking, etc. Especially condensation though.

I like my fan a lot but have a question related to it. The bug screen on it got smashed when I closed it on my pillows. It looks totally fine but when I turn the fan on it is scraping and makes the fan very loud. Anyone have this issue and know how to fix it?

The screen is easily removed, and then you can straighten it out before putting it back. Spin the four latches to start taking it apart.

Yea same thing happens with my fan screen. I just grab the sides of the screen a flex it a bit to make it bow back out.

Couldn’t imagine not having the fan. It helps reduce condensation in the winter, air out the camper when cooking, and an added little bonus - I can peek out the fan opening towards the front of the truck if I want.

I tried using the ‘window only’ technique my first night without the fan running and I had ice buildup in the morning on the inside of the roof (winter camping). The next night I tired keeping all windows closed but had fan run all night. I had minimal condensation (that wasn’t frozen) and could be wiped up in 5 seconds..but most of the time I just run the fan a bit right before packing up to dry out that last bit of condensation.

I know the feeling. I camped a few weeks ago and the low at 9F on my weather station. I had alot of ice build up in the morning on the inside portion of the Drifters roof.

I agree, fan is a must every morning I turn it on and pop open the windows and run it for an hour or so.

I had this issue when I left my pillows in the bed with the top closed. I pull the bed platform forward so it is right under the fan. Now, we have turned the pillows sideways so they don’t push against the bug screen. Seems to eliminate this problem.

Are you running it through the front drop down window?

I am. I have modified the hose and flatten it and it fits between the cab and the window. My dropdown window has a small sliding window which is opened about 4 inches to allow the hose to inter the drifter.

you and me both man, I have had the HD plus a leaf in a for a long time now. Yeah they squeak when they get super dirty but they have performed fine for me! That’s said I also have a back up bag and bumpstop set up that I can use when I’m super loaded down but it lets me keep the back end squishy for wheeling

I think the key here is that you guys have the HD pack plus an added leaf. I think most of us that have just the HD pack(rated for 660 lbs) didn't get any life out of the pack without being over the 660 lbs.
