I'm not totally sure what bootcamp is, a quick google leads me to believe it's an Apple (Macbook) thing?? This is a Microsoft laptop that functions more like a tablet but still has laptop like functions (usb, keyboard(detachable), etc)

Gotcha, it looks like they run windows 10 from the factory, just wanted to see if anyone else has used one and can confirm. I'll hit up the VF forums just to be certain.

Edit: Just to add more info.

It looks like the surface pro gets a full version of windows, but the lower models had a "10S" version that doesn't allow third party app installation (supposedly). So as long as the windows version allows third party app installation, it should work. From some searches over on the vf tuner forum it looks like @tonered uses a surface for tuning.

@tonered runs on a surface pro

I’ve used it on both a MacBook and surface go 2

Yes. I have a Surface 6 Pro with both Win 10 and Win 11. Both have worked great for vF.

The Surface Pro runs regular Windows. The only issue would be if the hardware was limited, which I doubt.

    Fuuuuck.

The vF software and TS does not require much in the way of hardware requirements.

Considering my surface go has no issues… a regular surface will be fine too

I consider myself to be of slightly above average intelligence but I can't figure out what needs to be purchased to do a tune on my truck. If I just want to be able to access the ECU I need the $389 cable and software but if I want to tune it I need to purchase the tune packs for the same cost? Am I being dense on this?

The cable and OBD2 plug are relatively cheap. What you're paying for is the software, and then the tune files. You can buy tunes other than those offered by VFT, or you can create your own using the aforementioned software.

I guess my question is do I need to make two purchases to get the basic upgrades?

If you want to do the install yourself, yes. If you're ok with another person flashing your truck then you can spend far less.

Yes. You need to purchase the $389 kit from OVTune then a tune pack from someone. I just did the whole process. Purchased the kit and then purchased the KDMAX tune files. So worth it to do once you set it up. Allows you to try different setting and tunes. Also need a computer that runs windows. Tuned my truck this AM.

Just getting around to changing my max speed after regearing to 5.29 and keep getting this error message. Any idea what's up? I've got a very strong internet connection on my end just about 15' away from the truck. Never had this happen before. Also the timeout is happening after about 5 seconds even though the error message indicates 10.
