The auto vs the manual? Well,,, the manual is,,, how do I put it politely,,, just a whole different animal!

Careful, the A/T crowd is quite sensitive on TW. They'll conclude you must have a man bun and crocs.

You rarely if ever , read about someone having bought a manual taco and regretting it .
Cannot say the same for the automatics .
As for pro vs sport , it depends on your wallet vs use .
If you plan on using it daily , with many truck chores being the norm ,
You might be upset with the resulting hash marks and battle scars .
I don't do any serious off roading , I’m mostly on pavement ,
In a area of mountain roads , i spend a lot of time in 2nd ,3rd and 4th gears ,
With the occasional trip to town , where i can really open her up to
    The overdrive gears .
Thats why i chose a manual sport .
For my uses I could not have chosen a better vehicle .
    40 k miles of chores , trips , snow , landscaping , hauling , light towing ,
Grand children taxiing and dogs .
Like other posters have stated , manuals are different , regardless of manufacturer . You can be part of the herd , or be part of that rare breed .
    No regrets

LOL. I'd say they probably should read my profile before they get to excited. LOL. The other thing I'll say,,, never be afraid to say, or defend, the truth!

When I was shopping for mine, I was close to getting a 3rd gen auto.
I wanted a TRD OR AC MT - finding one was a bitch, took me like 6-8 months..
And they do not make MT AC in 3rd gen.. in the USA [but Canada. . .]

After about 6 months, I was about to give up and go see this old man tan 3rd gen OR/AC - when a 2nd gen, that was exactly what i wanted - popped up for sale. Both were about 3hr drive away, in opposite directions..

I thought about it for about 5 seconds - I have a 2011 BMW128i MT that I love to drive, hard - I would not enjoy driving an AT nearly as much and if I don't enjoy driving it, I shouldn't buy it.. but that is me.

If you have the $$, do what makes you happy, what you will enjoy.

[my 2cents - MT are alot more fun than autos]

I just bought my truck this fall. The MT wasn't even on my wish list since I was in a hurry and they're hard to find. This one more-or-less fell in my lap and now the MT is my favorite feature.

I've seen raptors and rams off-road, decked out wranglers, some people just dont mind a few knicks and scratches
