Looking like they're around $17K with what I need Even toyed the idea of an ATV with plow, but most of those run 10-12K as well. I can't win!

 

Inflation and availability of components...its gotten down right nutty the last year +.

I have a ATV and coworker told me buying a blade for his was the best money he ever spent. He said he got several parts on clearance like at Cabelas.

 

Some glue dried.

 

Tell her the best option is weld the door shut.

I am thinking a job like that is beyond most body shops in this day !

Outside the normal scope of what they do .

send the son looking for the part cut out as much as possible trim to size as needed

 

I just got off the phone with my friend and coworker who's a welder by trade. He said that he's fixed a few over the years and bring it by today if I wanted. I told him I'd just as soon wait until after the new pins and bushings arrived so maybe next weekend. He said sure and next weekend even be more room in his workshop. I mentioned a piece of steel strap with a hole above and below for added strength. He said he's had to do that before too on a old Datsun pickup.
I tell my wife the good news, and she ask me can we do it today because he has a trip planned to Colorado on Thursday.

No, no that's the plan and why I'm going to wait. I tell you what, this friend is just a great guy. He said we can do it tomorrow or Wednesday after work and he will even help me with hinge bushings. He said I might not like his shop temperature of 80° I said I'll be just fine

 

Yesterday was CAD, today is crepe paper. The old ways still work .

Needed to make a bolt hole pattern for the new motor.

Kawasaki and Predator engines have different bolt holes.

If I would have been thinking yesterday, I would have used the computer.

I guess I'll always be knuckle dragger.

I was insinuating that your wife demanded the striker be welded ASAP before the door pin repair.

I've had to do a couple of those on my old S10. Went through several cause I kept going with Dorman kits...

Yes, I get it now. You are correct. Took me three times explaining for it to sink in.
That's what I used was Dorman bushing before. I may make a couple at work from bushing material.
Did you ever use anything different that worked better? I thought the Dorman bushing too tight and half hammer the snot out of them to get them to go. I'm going to make a tool to install the bushing this time.

 

I think I used a universal kit the last time that had some more OEM looking bushings, not sure how long it lasted as I sold the truck shortly after. Not like it woulda mattered to the new owner, it was in serious beater status after I lost and argument with a guardrail...
