    Hi folks,
Just noticed this morning that the drivers side rear bumper on my 2020 TRD Sport has a slight bubble which is now cracking. Any ideas of what could have caused this? I haven’t hit anything and if somebody else had, I would have thought it would have left a depression, not a bubble. Thanks in advance.

The extreme cold and possible contact from someone else.

I'd still mention it next service and see if they can do anything.

@Bishop84, i was wondering about the cold - we’ve had a stretch of -30 C here in Alberta and the truck is garaged at night in +11. The truck will be going in for a service in a week or so, so I’ll see what the dealer has to say.

Yeah me too! I don’t mind the cold but this last stretch was a bit much. Nice to have a chinook make an appearance finally. Where do you get your services done?

Maybe a rock flew up from underneath the truck? Is it the rear bumper cap? Those can be found cheap online and easily replaced.

That’s possible too given the size of the “grit” that Alberta puts on our roads in the winter. And yes, the rear bumper cap.

That’s disappointing. May be the cold and something hit it and cracked it. It doesn’t look like the crack is only on the paint. The plastic itself looks like cracked. I don’t think the cold itself did that. Something must’ve hit it. On the bright side, it’s a perfect excuse to get a steel bumper.

Do a google search I think you can find those pre painted from Toyota and a few aftermarket places. I think Amazon has them every now and then too. They're pretty easy to swap out.

It’s definitely into the plastic and it’s bulged outwards so something would have had to flick off the tire and found the sweet spot to get in there. That would be just my luck!

sorry bud, but you can get one like MGM suggested above. The downside is that it’s a pain to replace those bumper caps.

You dont have to hit anything to get a rear bumper cracked. Park at any parking lot and a non driving parking lot bandit will leave you a tatoo as they cant drive/backup for shit. I just replaced a rear bumper cover and the plastic bumper end. It was easy. Those things are just like big pieces of lego. I bought left and right covers (black) and 1 bumper end for $80

Yeah I think someone (or something) bumped into you in a parking lot or something and cracked the paint. You probably didn't notice and over time the paint separated and bubbled. Get some matte black bumper covers and forget color matching. You'll just have a full black bumper from now on. :D
