After 5 years of ownership and 65k miles, I am ready to look at more comfortable options for my two front seats. I know some do the seat jackers in the front, but I think I’m ready to take the plunge for a full replacement. I don’t intend on going full harness… but I want something that can get my ass (and lower back) 500 miles away without a chiropractor.

Does anyone run aftermarket seats that make a noticeable difference in comfort for daily driven trucks? Being pretty naive to the aftermarket seat world, I dont know if there are models that are a little less bolster, and slightly more OEM…?

I just started my search/ data collection for aftermarket seats. I had a set of Corbeau suspension seats in my XJ that I did like a lot. At this point I'm looking for larger side bolsters. Right now my first pick is the PRP Enduro Elite Reclining Suspension seat, it's part of their daily driver line. PRP has the option for custom colors with is fun. What I can't find is the slide mount specific for a tacoma, might have to fab something up or Frankenstein up a mount using the stock mounts. Here is a screen shot of the PRP seat I'm liking the most. prp seat.jpg

When it comes to the airbag that is mounted on the outside of the front seats, do you know if the light on the dash is going to be screaming at you? The loss of an airbag is a big deal to me when swapping seats, however my everyday comfort trumps it. BUT…. If it’s loss of airbag AND my dash is light up 24/7, that might sway me from continuing much further. Checking out the local Sparco showroom later on today to pick their brains and will pass on any good info I hear

The seats in my first Gen were terrible and would swap them in a heartbeat— such a great truck otherwise. Those Recarro seats look so good and still OEM aesthetically, you made a great choice. I’m slowly getting turned off from the $500 replacements I was eyeing for a couple reasons, but hopefully I will have a better idea the route I am going by end of today.

The air bag will defiantly be an issue, there might be a work around out there. I have to keep searching. Yes please, any info you can share would be great.
There are some sweet factory seats with side airbags we might be able to swap in. I know someone here is fitting a set of factory Nissan Juke Nismo seats in with side airbags. Saw the thread here recently.

Damn man. Those are first class chairs and we are just filthy casuals in the back of the plane. Very cool.

I have a seat cushion, and it was never intended to be used in the vehicle. It just happened. I think I spilled something on my previous vehicle and decided I didn't want to spend a bunch on seat covers, so I got this old seat cushion I used to have on my desk chair. Some wal-mart pleather one. Gotta say, it just works. My legs don't bother me at all. Most people at 6' and above complain and end up getting the seat risers. I'd like to do that too and I was leaning towards Clazzio seat covers also. But this is a cool idea. I mean, they are just seats. With the right bracket and a little bit of effort, pretty sure you can fit just about any seats in there. I'm just subbing to see what ideas people have come up with and the cost of them.
