Hey y’all. I’m taking my truck to a metal fab shop soon to do some work to my frame. I want to get a plate welded to the front of where my crash bar plate used to be. (It broke). I need to get the inside of the frame sleeved first, because I’m planning on adding a 5/16 thick plate to it. As you can see I cut off the old plate that cracked due to excessive winch pulling on a bumper that wasn’t mounted correctly. How would y’all go about sleeving this so it can handle a 5/16 plate.

Measure the inside width, drill a few holes on the sides for plug welds on the frame, then hammer the tightest fitting rectangle tube into the frame and weld it in place. Make sure you take into account how you will mount the new bumper mounts on the frame, perhaps weld a plate on the front of the sleeve and use that to hammer it in place.
