Well, 3-1/2 hours later...

I'm again the shop night watchman.
The power is back on and I still can't sleep.

Tomorrow (later today) is going to be stellar....again.

Yep goodmorning it's Tuesday but kind of like my Monday. I see another ERO drill coming up

Oh well, guess they pay me decent

 

That's the spirit! I did a lot of silly things at the job on the whim of others -- and was paid by the hour...

 

This part is done, now to do the rest of it so it can go to paint.

 

Looked like a HD garden tractor frame until you put the base on.

 

We have a winter weather advisory starting in about 3 hours. Sounds like it should be worse than last Friday when we got the day off.

Near blizzard conditions at times in open country. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph.

From 11 AM this morning to midnight CST tonight.

Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute. The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.

And it's not supposed to be above freezing (NOT counting the windchill) for at least the next 10 days.

My morning rant:

It's Tuesday, first day back from the weekend. My priorities were (starting @ 7am):
1. Drink coffee, catch up on email
2. Meeting at 8am (1 hour)
3. Lab instrument maintenance (30 minutes, rebuild injection port)
4. Check eye wash fountains
5. Another meeting at 10:30am

I've been busy, but not breaking a sweat by no means. Go to take a bathroom break and see one of the new kids taking his selfie in the bathroom. Most of these kids they bring in ain't worth a crap. They want to tell me how/what/when to do things because they have a 4 year degree and I've only got a 2 year degree. I've worked in labs for 22 years now, and it's getting scary how some of the new hires are worried more about getting their Instagram, TikTok, whatever updated instead of running samples that production needs so we don't have any process upsets.

Process upsets could be thousands of pounds/gallons of material scrapped, fire, explosion, etc.

I grew up on a farm, I wish some of these kids could experience the joy of throwing 300 square bales in August. Rebuilding fence in January. I feel blessed to have a job in a lab with a roof over my head year round, A/C in the summer, heat in the winter.

 

It's scary where this country is headed with the incoming work force, or lack thereof.

I too grew up on a small farm chunking square bales in the top of the barn, getting wood up in the winter, etc, etc. I'm glad to have a heated shop to work in, both winter and summer

 

I dont get the selfies thing at work in restroom...
